1.7
Help me pls. On 1.8 I can get up to 220 FPS but on 1.7 I get lagspikes all the time and I average 50 FPS. I'm using forge with togglesneak and player API with optifine. Buying better specs is not an option :(
How can I make my FPS playable and keep it there?

For some reason I used to be able to play 1.7 no problemo, be able to record videos no problemo… then my wireless adapter broke so I got a new one and all of a sudden my recorder records at 7 FPS even though I set it to 60 and I can't even play on 1.7…. and I didn't change any specs except for my wireless adapter

I don't want my game to look like trash… and also smooth FPS restricts my FPS, I can get 200 on 1.8 with smooth FPS off but with it on only 100-110

I mean it's minecraft the game doesn't have to look like a high quality game, I just turned my graphics to fast and I got 100+ more fps than I usually do. (I average about 300-400 fps)

The adapter I had I salvaged from a PC that was from the 90s and runs windows xp and is a decade old. I'm pretty sure getting a newer and better one isn't going to affect it…

Edit: that PC with the adapter (old broken windows xp one) couldn't even connect to the internet LOL, but when I tried it on my new PC it was able to connect

I don't really know what else to do then, sorry.

1.8 is just generally smoother in terms of FPS. If what you're saying is true about being able to run minecraft perfectly fine on 1.7 before, just reinstall minecraft. Also note what texture packs you're using. The higher the pixel resolution (e.g. 128x128, 512x512) the more it will drain your FPS. But, before you reinstall minecraft if you care about your packs or versions etc make a back up of them, and then reinstall. Reinstall Java too because an outdated version of java COULD have an affect on that.

I only notice a 10 FPS difference between a 16x and a 128x
Also to reinstall mc I just delete the .minecraft and run the launcher right?

if you're really struggling, try 8x8 texture packs, it will give a small improvement
