Badlion is well aware of the issues with 1.8 and has taken steps to fix the issues. The only reason 1.8 is being used for the client is it's much easier to improve 1.8.9 than it is to attempt to get a 1.7.10 client to have the same graphical optimizations that a 1.8 client has. TL;DR client is going to be a 1.7 pvp feel (but with many bug fixes) with 1.8 fps.

People get bored of games no matter how good they are, even if you are continuously pushing updates. I'm predicting that a lot of the people that decide to become a partner now will later get the urge to play other games or servers to get away from badlion. It'll turn more into a job than a hobby and about half of the people that become a partner will stop after a while.Posted on 14 December 2016 - 09:38 AM

If they're getting paid even half as much as a regular full time job, playing Minecraft for that much money is not an opportunity many will turn down. It doesn't mean the partners can't play other games or servers in their own time for fun, they would just have to ensure that they meet the standards set by the partnership in terms of amount of content created on Badlion, and they couldn't upload it.
