There's a bunch of AMAs going on right now so I feel like bandwagoning.I'm also probably not going to pull any punches on the opinions so don't ask for one if you don't want a truly honest one.

How would you raye your own intelligence on a scale of 1 to 11? 11 being geniusPosted on 25 December 2016 - 03:55 AM

Rating your own intelligence sounds incredibly pretentious so I think I'm gonna pass.

You seem like a good translator/host. Don't know you that well, though.
I like all my staff positions, each for different reasons. It's hard to pick a favorite.
In life? Go to a good college, get a degree, then figure out what I'm going to do that both prevents me from being poor and also makes my life fulfilling. Pretty generic set of goals, but it is what it is.
On staff? My main goal is to be an arena manager eventually, but right now they don't need any more, so who knows when that will become possible. If I'm still here by the time I go to college (and I succeed in becoming an arena manager) I'd like to be an admin someday.
But who knows, maybe I'll have resigned before I accomplish either of those things.

You're odd - more than a bit toxic, but also undoubtedly thoughtful and intelligent. You remind me a little of m0xy. I like that you're willing to speak your mind, but I think sometimes you hurt your own argument through toxicity.
I don't use quora.
I think almost all volunteer work is a mix of altruistic and selfish - it's rarely entirely one or the other. Here's the thing: I don't feel that I owe the world everything. If I was Superman, I wouldn't pull that lever, because my overriding purpose isn't to do the most good at all times. Don't get me wrong, I believe in doing good, and I believe I owe the world some things - but I want a life for myself as well. I think it's entirely fair to do exactly what the guy in the quora said, to not have "maximum efficiency", as long as you acknowledge that you're getting something out of it. It's not like building houses does anything bad - you're still making a positive impact - so quibbling about efficiency comes down to how self righteous people are about it.
This is a long answer, so let me relate it to my staff work. One of my primary motivations for doing staff work is to make this server a better place, and help people. However, if I didn't get a rank out of it, and if I didn't enjoy the work and the power being staff gives me, would I still do it? Probably not. And in my mind, nothing is wrong with that, and I'm completely willing to acknowledge it.

That's a bit of a long story. The short version is that I made some stupid decisions in a different community ("unwise" decisions) and intended and succeeded in using this account to make things right. It's also a little bit of a reminder to myself about how poor my decisionmaking is sometimes, and that it's often better to make the wise choice rather than the smart one.

Favorite subject is easily math. Least favorite, probably Spanish.
I'd give up tournament. I'm way too invested in the other two to give one up.
Answered this earlier, but I like each for different reasons. It's hard to play favorites.
