I've been seeing people talk about conversions/how equal ELO and MMR is and i'm confused slightly…before MMR, the starting ELO was 1400, and people on the forums are saying that equates to Silver II? I'm really confused and i don't understand how i'm supposed to gauge skill now.
Anyone know how to explain the ELO/MMR differences/comparisons?

Arcybot said that Silver 3 was 1400 elo and this guy called Unwise proved that every rank you go up is 75.6 elo. So we cam find out how much elo a point is worth by dividing 75.6 by 1000 because that's how many points it takes to go up a rankLast edited on 08 January 2017 - 09:38 AM by jarecl

To set the record straight: Silver II is 1400, not silver III. Also, MMR CAN be converted into what Archy would call an "elo-like number" but that number isn't even slightly equivalent to elo. The systematic differences in MMR and elo makes comparing the amount of skill or consistency necessary to get a certain rating impossible.
So it's possible to make MMR look more like elo, but conversions are ultimately bullshit.
