An idea on a new mute reason / length
What I've been seeing a lot lately is people being muted for 'Suicide Encouragement' for a week for saying things such as 'I hope you and your family die of cancer you bowspamming cunt'

What I personally think is that a new mute should be added to the muting system, so when a moderator is about to make a mute and the list of reasons pops up, there should be a new addition to that list - Extreme toxicity (At the moment, only admins are allowed to punish with the reason 'extreme toxicity' with a custom mute message).

My idea would be to make the mute length for Extreme toxicity 2 weeks at least for the first offence, then for the second offence it's a month mute, third offence is a month ban and after that an admin can decide.

There is a big difference between saying 'kys' and wishing somebody a really painful death, most people that say 'kys' say it without thinking as soon as they lose a match out of annoyance, it's not acceptable at all but actually taking the time to write out a horrible sentence is much worse, it shows genuine hatred and ill-wishing on a person just over a Minecraft fight

Edit:
THIS is an example of what an extreme toxicity punishment would be given for https://www.badlion.net/forum/thread/156190
THIS is an example of a really short mute considering the context https://www.badlion.net/profile/user/infezd00d/punishments
He's gotten away with a 7 day mute for saying those things.

+1, don't agree with the scaling you suggested though.

The scaling is just a rough sort of idea atm :P

+1! The punishment should be way for harsh. harsh-er for 2nd offences.

After I got punished for "kys" I realized that people can actually kill themsevles over a message. I know it sounds stupid and all but think about it, its a guy DEAD. Not coming back. And also, what if the message was sent to someone you liked?? And they actually killed themselves because of a message.

+1, I had people telling me they want me and my family and everyone I know die from cancer and burn in hell and then getting a 1 week mute for it, imo death wishes/suicide encouragement should go back to being a ban then if appealed reduced to 1 week as it was before

At first I didn't like this idea but after reading through it a few times, I agree. If you have the hatred to write something actually cruel and nasty to someone you should be punished for longer than someone who says a simple 'kys'.

100% a good idea

I like the idea, although the scaling should start with 1 week. 1 week is a long time, and many new players will just say that not knowing it's against the rules. The reason the first mute is 15 minutes (for most categories) is because it's sort of a warning. It's just not a good idea to make it start at 2 weeks.

A 1 week mute is just as powerful as a longer mute to someone who is willing to correct his behavior, we are supposed to focus more on making people realize that what they say / do is wrong rather than focusing on punishing them for what they do.

The extra length is not really what i'm focusing on, it's more to do with the fact that people that are saying extremely toxic things are getting muted for the wrong reason. If somebody in the chat said 'I will hang all of you goddamn n****** I hope you all die' and somebody else said 'kys', they'd both get the same punishment length and reason, a simple 'suicide encouragement' or 'death threats' mute would not accurately represent on their profile the level of toxicity they were showing at the time. Of course the length of the mute would be subject to change, the figures I listed were a really rough estimate

a lot of ppl dont even care whether they're muted. imo we should go back to this being a bannable offense.

I say longer mutes all around.

Also, take out the filter bypass option and group it with bad sportsmanship. Far too many times have people with three or more bad sportsmanship mutes gotten muted for "filter bypass" for fifteen minutes.

The common defense from these troublemakers is "idc it only 15 mins - it short." This weakling notion of "rehabilitation" instead of punishment should be scrapped immediately.
