sniffle vanilla was the only ladder that stood the test of time, the test of 14 seasons

Archybot said it on stream (and in a post somewhere too I think). It is being removed because all of the skillsets you can gain through playing Vanilla can be gained from other kits. Horse is also being removed from ranked in S15, but will be available for duels, so I imagine vanilla duels will still be a thing.
