I need help. So I bought a AOC 1920x1080 27" monitor back in August. It only has 60hz and I heard 144hz wI'll make my aim better. On top of that I also heard that you can only record minecraft effectively at 120 FPS with a 144hz monitor. Please confirm if the above is true. Also is overclocking bad for my monitor? I heard it reduces the lifespan of my monitor. (Assuming I had a monitor with the lifespan of 2 years, how long will the lifespan get shortened if I overclock by 15hz)And if ur wondering, I do get over 140 FPS in game. If I increase my monitor hz from 60 to 75 will I see any difference in gameplay?
Also there was this website called tomshardware I was reading and it said if I turn on certain settings (like triple buffer) I should get less monitor reaction time ms. Confirm please.

I can record in 120fps perfectly with a 60Hz monitor, it makes the graphics ever so slightly shaky while recording but it's fine. However, I get 350-400FPS on Badlion arenas usually and this drops to about 160fps while recording in 120fps, the frame drop is substantial. If you are getting 140fps on arena maps, you will find it much harder to aim while recording in 120fps, as you will probably drop below 60fps at points. I'd definitely suggest getting a better graphics card before a 144hz monitor.

Nononono, I get 140 FPS minimum. It can soar up to 300-400 FPS. But please tell me how to render it without everything being sped up :(

the only thing about computers that im familiar with are the things i had to do research on to make my own computerno idea how much the lifespan is descreased by overclocking, thats something you should google or make a thread about on some tech savvy website for some professional answers

I'm gonna talk from personal experience since I've been in your situation before. Having anything above 60Hz feels fluid or just smoother in all ways. When I got my old monitor, it took me a year to figure out it could be overclocked a little higher. The end result was a 75Hz display that made gameplay very appealing and just better looking. Once I got enough money to invest in the ASUS MG248Q, the change from 75Hz to 144Hz was instantly noticeable and you will have trouble playing games that don't reach that level of a frame rate. I've heard that overclocking your monitor above its specified clock, it can diminish its lifespan in some way (but I'm not worried since its on my old monitor). As for recording, FRAPS will limit your ingame frame rate to whatever you desire to record at (let's say 120). Action and ShadowPlay don't lower your refresh rate and are advertised to not stress hardware during gameplay either, but there are many problems for Action for Windows 10 users recording at 120FPS. (TLDR 144Hz is very nice to play on but you need decent hardware to play and record with a monitor that supports it.)

144 Hz is definitely an improvement. It made painful go from losing to me to shitting on me. It'll help you a lot trust me. Overclocking and the lifespan of it is something like ihackerlite said, you should ask on a tech savvy website. I'm not familiar with building computers as much as I am with their frameworks, but I do have a decent bit of knowledge on them. I'll ask a friend and edit this post tomorrow if you don't find your answer.Edit: Overclocking monitors is generally regarded as the safest thing to do and there is no considerable loss of lifespan.

i read a thread a while back on LTT forums about OC'ing monitors and from what I remember OC'ing a monitor is perfectly safePosted on 20 March 2017 - 08:49 AM
Welp If I did this my monitor would probably die in a few weeks :((((Last edited on 20 March 2017 - 05:11 PM by Astounding
Can someone just answer these two questions please?1) How much will overclocking decrease my monitor's lifespan?
2) Will overclocking 60hz to 75hz make a noticeable difference in my aim and pvp??

1. from what I know, it won't
2. you might not notice it right away but play on 75hz for 2-3 weeks then switch back to 60hz and you'll notice a difference

Does it make a noticeable difference on my aim?

Ok I tried overclocking to 75 hertz (my monitor can't go further) and is my monitor supposed to look saturated in color now? It looks much more saturated in color now

That's what happened to me when I changed the refresh rate of my old monitor. I did noticed a hint of blue though.Posted on 22 March 2017 - 12:53 AM
nigga its minecraft u can run it on a lamp and play finePosted on 22 March 2017 - 05:22 PM
BUMB. For some reason when I use a custom template in nvidia, I can't use minecraft at 1280x720 anymore. What I mean is if I click on a profile other than my native default set res in nvidia, in minecraft the only resolution options are 1920x1080, and then a bunch of super weird resolutions that are all stretched. I don't have the 1280x720 option anymore. Please help :(
