Take factions down or fix lag.
Look, I'm going to try not to sound like a douche in this but I'm pissed off as fuck so, sorry if I start being a douche.

I had a strong 45-60ms connection to badlion before factions. Now that factions is here I have a horrific connection. Nothing has changed about badlion (Nothing that I know of at least) except adding factions. Now I like the idea of factions and I want to play it too. But I prefer that kit pvp server (And I donated on it as well) so I want to keep playing on it too. But with factions when I'm on the kit pvp server I think I have around 350-500ms connection now. I went from 1550 elo in vanilla to 1345 to people that were mostly in the 1300's which I am really pissed about. I've been losing to people with 1200 and 1300 ranks all day. So I was wondering if you could either fix the lag issue or just take factions down if that doesn't help. Because it's almost impossible to pvp on the connection that I have now.

Thanks for reading!

This isn't how servers work I'm sorry to inform you. (sorry if i'm being a douche). The CPU usage is not even at 50% for the box and there is 20G of memory not being used.

On a serious note, if you would like to do the following I can help to debug the issue further. It sounds more like a node in the internet blew out and the packets being sent to the server are going along a different route. Can you do the following?

If you are on windows to to Start -> type "cmd" (hit enter) -> type "tracert mc.badlion.net" and send me the results of that in an email to [email removed]

If you are on linux/mac os x go to the Search icon in the top right corner and click it -> type "terminal" (hit enter) -> and type "traceroute mc.badlion.net" and send me the results to [email removed]

This will show me all of the different internet points of presence your packets are going through and can give me a better idea as to what's going on.

Thanks.

On further investigation we got hit by an attack via DDOS yesterday and our packets were being routed through our DDOS extra protection when they no longer needed to be. I have fixed this and the lag on the server should be resolved at the moment.

On a completely different side note, a lot of people from New York are having issues right now and other parts of the country due to the snow storm on the east coast. This is completely out of my control and if the internet nodes are dying out due to a storm I can't do anything to help :(
