These servers are doomed to fail eventually… They rely solely off of youtube promotion for a playerbase, rather than reliability and a kickass idea that makes the server better in general. Honestly, the only thing that have made all the people I know want to play these servers is the fact that youtubers run the show. Unless they push out something unique, then they won't stay alive for long. At least Badlion has been up for several years, and has an experienced staff/development team that works hard to improve the community. Also, the ones who get paid for having these servers up and running are going to, without a doubt, promote their server, whilst not promoting other servers, in order to turn a profit from more players showing up to offer money. That's just how business works. Over time though, it'll probably just get stale, and people will move on to other youtubers who decide to do things that people find interesting at the time. Whether that be Badlion, or a different thing/server that just generally interests people. It's also already happened. Take the recent drop of players due to Overwatch coming out and becoming popular. I won't be surprised if little kids actually go out to buy those 400 dollar ranks.(You can assemble a pc at this price).I think this practice of earning money is quite successful as long as children fanboy their favourite youtubers to the point where they will do anything just to get their attention.And they will regret throwing money down the drain after they grow up and loose interest.
