I have a Mac, so I'm trying to convince my parents to get me a PC. Is this good for running MC and editing videos/recording?https://m.costco.com/iBUYPOWER-C-i13-Gaming-Desktop---7th-Generation-Intel-Core-i7---3GB-NVIDIA-GTX-1060-Graphics.product.100328726.html

If you don't care about it being overpriced then it'll suit your needsLast edited on 29 April 2017 - 10:51 AM by AbsolutelyAlpha

That PC should be able to run Minecraft at really high FPS and render videos pretty fast.

You are spending $1k on a pc and you are really worried about if it'll be good enough for minecraft?

Almost $200 cheaper https://pcpartpicker.com/list/knkNFd
A better spec pc for $30 bucks cheaper https://pcpartpicker.com/list/phs2NN
Yeah it will get you 500 frames but frankly if you're looking at editing videos/recording on a just say $1100 budget I'd recommend something like this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rvwBd6

But I'll probably go with that last one if I can figure out how to build computers.

In single core areas the i7 will outperform the ryzen 1600, in multithreaded area's such as editing, then recording and playing at the same time the ryzen 1600 will outperform the i7. Building a pc isn't as hard as it sounds, it's sorta like adult legos. There's also a ton of guides to help you along such as

What's your max budget and what all do you plan on doing with your pc?

Alright, so this PC comes with a good i7, a low end graphics card and no overclockabilityPrebuilt computers will never outperform building your own custom rig.
As Vaxd said, it is very important that we know your max budget and your usability, however I'll piece together something that you could get around this price subtracting the peripherals.

This is a baseline idea of what you can get for the price range of 1100-1200 USD. This list is a bit more expensive than the costco selection, but keep in mind that there are benefits and tweaks that can be made to this.
1. This build allows overclocking. The costco build features the same CPU, minus the overclocking ability. You can make this CPU nearly double in performance [I have a 6600k, and overclocking is a huge boost
2. The GPU [graphics card] is an upgrade. A 3gb 1060 is featured in the C-i13. This build would allow you to have a 6gb model that looks much better and gives more support.
3. This build would allow for water cooling. Overclocking typically favors you to have a good CPU cooler. Water cooling is super successful at keeping the temps down.
4. The power supply featured here is semi-modular and also certified. I'm uncertain on if the one in the prebuilt has similar features. But this change makes cable management and the general look much cleaner.
There are a few things that you don't get, such as an OS, however if you don't want a $70 case or a 6gb GPU, you can save some money.
Prebuilts typically go for the cheapest available options for motherboards and graphics, so you often miss out on the additions that some companies offer. Read up on each part to be sure it is compatible.

As for the other part,I currently have a 6600k and a 1070. If MC is the only game you will be running, then the ibuypower PC will get you going well. Games such as MC don't require an excellent PC.
This price range is an odd one for building computers, as it is right between the lines of budget and high performance. You would have to decide:
1. What will the computer be for
2. How much money are you willing to spend
3. How long do you want it to last
4. Do you care about how it looks/want the flashy effects of RGB
5. Do you need/want overclocking, or is it worth the sacrifice.

1. It's going to be a family computer, but for me, playing MC, editing, recording, and streaming. Needs 2 TB minimum bc my mom has 1 TB of pictures.
2. 1.5k max including keyboard and monitor
3. It stays home when I go to college so it needs to last at least 2.5 years
4. Preferably no RGB as is a family pc in the kitchen
5. Idk what overclocking is and it can't have water cooling since it's in our kitchen.

Alright, what type of keyboard and monitor would you be looking at then? Like a rgb/mechanical? Just membrane? And how big of a monitor? Also, why is it that the placement of it in a kitchen means you cannot water cool it?

Yeah I don't see why people keep saying "oh please don't tell me you're only getting that 1070 just for minecraft" when in reality maybe it's what people need to make minecraft run faster.
