Ok, so recently in chat I've seen many people claiming someone has DDoS'd them so lets get to bottom of this if you think someone has DDoS'd you the chances are you wont find out but using one of these methods you can check and prevent DDoS attacks I hope it wil be usefull.

1)During the DDoS attack a useful thing to do is Go to Start >> Command Prompt >> type in this >> ping yourip (replace your ip with your actual item it should be something like this 89.61.141.72 something along those lines you will then see all the open connections to that IP Address

it should look something a little like this but in a DDoS attack the Packets recieved will be over 300+ as people spam packets to you to put you in a Distrubuted Denial Of Service (DDoS)
2)Want to be extra sneaky and find out who is behind the attack a good thing is a 'Packet Sniffer'
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/smsniff.html - this is an example of a packet sniffer this shows all open connections to your IP
Moving onto methods of prevention before it gets to the stage above

1)Most people find your IP out by using something called a 'Skype Resolver'
To Prevent this happening dont use Skype or use this simple method to stop people resolving your IP

This will only allow friends to have open connections with you not just anyone randomer
2)Use a VPN to log on to skype
This is also a useful way to not get you skype resolved as Number 1) is only 90% definitely working so this is also an extra layer of security
