UK general election results
What are your thoughts? I think it's a political disaster for May since she came out worse after calling the snap election. Not sure what this will mean for the tories with a hung parliament…

As a Tory I wish May had of resigned, this election has shown her incompetence and how she has lost authority going into Brexit negotiations.

Sure @Genocado , so Theresa may called a snap election for two Reasons. Firstly, she was technically unelected. As people voted for David Cameron in 2015 and when he resigned Theresa May replaced him. Secondly, the largest opposition Party (Labour) was in shambles at the time. So she called an Election in the hope of gaining a higher majority in The Houses of Parliament than she had so she could get things pushed through easier. In Britain, you vote for an MP, who has a seat in the Houses of Parliament. The party with the most seats in Parliament tries to form a Government, or coalition if they don't have enough votes for a majority.

Throughout the campaign the Labour Party picked up a lot of votes, due to their policies mainly. While Theresa May laid forward very negative and unexciting policies as she thought she'd easily win anyway. Anyway with the results in,the Conservatives (Theresa Mays party) lost a lot of seats and labour gained quite a few. Now the conservatives are still the largest party. But they do not have a majority like they did before, so it's a hung parliament. As a result of this the Conservatives get the right to attempt to form a Coalition. But instead of doing this they did something similar with the DUP (the dop is like the Conservatives but in Northern Ireland). So now the conservatives are ruling without a Majority, but they will call upon the DUP to vote with them in times of need to get things passed through. Overall this is an absolute backfire for Theresa May, as she thought she would increase her majority and now she has no majority at all!
