Why doesnt my anvil work.?

When i used the Badlion Client (which actually runs the game in 1.8) it doesn't actually tell you the correct amount of levels you need for an enchant. Just get a few more levels of xp and you should be fine. Also it looks like you used your xp but really its still there. You just need to get xp 1 more time and it will all come back
