Hey everyone. It's been too long since we had an open discussion with our community on a number of topics. Time to let you guys ask us what you want to know about Badlion. We will run this AMA for 1-2 hours.Topics we will not talk about:

Do you think if you made Badlion premium 1.7 instead of 1.8 it would be more attractive to players? :)Since atm people are not that hyped because its 1.8

I think it would have, but we also definitely screwed up the 1.8 backport to 1.7. The objective for making it 1.8 was so it would be properly compatible on all other servers such as Hypixel, Mineplex, etc.I think people need a bit of time and the more people that try out the client will realize it is a 1.7 client on Badlion Premium & other Badlion Client game modes.

It would be more attractive in the short term, 1.8 is better for the long term though as it overshadows 1.7's playerbase. Simply put, BL is the largest 1.7 server that I know of and even here 1.8 is as big or bigger, depending on the day.Last edited on 11 June 2017 - 12:08 PM by Jozzen

Our ArenaPvP/UHC has been carrying us for a while. Badlion Open is getting some big updates for the summer soon which it really needs in my opinion which should put us on the path of growth again.Hard work is always what Badlion has been about.

Don't have a proper release date for either pinned yet because they are both still in testing.We never intend to lie about release dates. We have never given out one for Season 15, and for UHC 6.0 the reality is I was lied to by a developer who is no longer with us about how far the project was. It was no where near completion and then got shelved for a few months while we finished up the Badlion Client & Badlion Premium.
UHC 6.0 is closer than ever, and it has some awesome goodies that we really have put a lot of special work into. I hope the community can wait a little bit longer while we finish it up.

The reason for Archy's response is simple. In the past (2 years ago) the community overall was much more accepting of bugs/delays. Now today people are much less understanding of these things. Hell on every ArenaPvP season we used to push out it would flat out be broken for 2-3 days. Now to the community it needs to be perfect on the first try or not at all.We used to be happy to test things with the community more but now as we see with the Badlion Client this is no longer the case. People want it to be perfect right away or they are just completely turned away from the product, even if it gets fixed/improved.
We always believe in good sportsmanship here. We will always have strict punishments against people who are poor sports and toxic.

I think cheatbreaker is a good concept in practice, but it's really just an anticheat/modpack in my eyes, just like blazingpack/ocmc - but done better. There really isn't a thing as "undetectable" cheats in relation to client side anticheat, just very hard to detect cheats.Going back to the previous things about flopping, just like anticheats, if it does flop it'll be because they aren't able to keep up with the new cheats coming out if cheats get that advanced. Client side anticheats are a cat and mouse game and requires constant upgrades/work to stay ahead, and since we have ESL/ESEA (who both have dedicated AC teams) who have been doing it for over a decade we don't believe this is as much of a problem for us as it will be for other people who attempt it.

When you and Archy first started to make Badlion a server did you ever see it going this far?What is your favorite thing about being an owner? (This is for both owners)
What do you find most fun in terms of server work?
If you had to elect one staff position (not counting devs and admins) to be the most important, which would you pick and why?
Comparing season 15 to previous ones, how do you feel about it?
Can you tell us anything about upcoming ESL sponsored tournaments involving the Badlion client?
What is your current opinion of the mibecraft pvp community as a whole? What could be done to improve the state of things?

- I find the problems that I face as an owner fun at times but painful at others.- I enjoy some of the challenging programming that it comes with here and there. I also love to see it when people enjoy what we do here at Badlion.
- I really don't know. They are all important.
- Based on the look/feel I think it's going to be even better than season 12 which is what everyone holds to be the best season on - Badlion so far.

No, it was only supposed to be a 1v1 + OCN scrim practice server.I really don't have a favorite thing anymore.
Programming stuff that's never been done in minecraft before (usually seen as impossible until done by us).
CMs are probably the most important for server change. Managers are probably the most important in organizing the staff.
It's going to be on par or better then Season 12.

I think certain parts of the minecraft PvP community sucks, while other parts of it are fine. There is a reason mojang doesn't cater to this community, and it's not mojang's fault. The community is very anti-change, anti-welcoming, and supports the destruction of anything they don't like which overall hurts the community as a whole - and until this changes I don't see mojang ever directly supporting our style of community.

You have 133 points. I will talk to the devs about getting this fixed in the 1.1.2 fix we are preparing.Not sure about a global ladder at the moment. At the moment we are just tracking this for per country.

Is it possible to apply for the Tester rank?When do you think that the Badlion Client will be polished enough that we won't be able to tell the difference between 1.7 and the client?

Afaik, the only way to be a tester is to be directly invited by Gberry.It's getting close with 1.1 (most parts you can't even tell the difference now), way closer then 1.0 was. I think by 1.3/1.4 it'll totally feel 1.7 minus one or two purposely kept parts.
Maybe, if not S16 will. If S15 gets done being tested before BAC integration is done it'll be launched without it, else it will be in there.
I have no intention on adding capes as capes in all forms are anti EULA as mojang has specifically asked for capes to be kept off limits, free or paid.
I have no idea, this is a tournament staff question.
Telling testers or the suggestion forums.
I honestly don't know, gberry will have to answer.

- Tester rank is something I personally recruit people for based on what I see on their activity on the forums/in game for bug finding.- I think it's almost there already, just needs a few more things. Another week and it should be fine.
- Yes, we do plan on having BAC integrations in ArenaPvP Season 15 which we have said from the start.
- Maybe one day, it's technically against the EULA but it's a gray area.
- Not sure tbh.
- Best way is idea/suggestion forum. We already have a ton of awesome ideas for it and just need more time honestly to get them all done.

SG is my favorite gamemode on BL behind CTW and I will continue to support it until it does die out in MC in general. I don't think SG is dying at all, just stagnated like most of Badlion Open is. I do indeed have plans for it, and no I am not willing to share.Posted on 11 June 2017 - 12:42 PM

Why not Build ffa? I already asked this but never really understood why it was always no. It's something that small servers did horribly but still got players purely because it's a build uhc kit. You guys could easily do it properly and it would always have 100+ people on.Since cubecore is still dead even after the update… why not make it a kitmap (for other regions aswell, especially sa)? It could easily get players if you guys have a good map (full of easter eggs, traps, etc) and do some quality of life things that no server did before. An example would be using items instead of signs, every kitmap server is made so that you need to walk to signs to get kits and it's honestly pretty boring. My idea is to make it so you have 3 items in your inventory (one for bard, one for the normal pvp kit and one for the archer kit), left clicking it would give you the kit and right clicking would let you edit your layout (kit saving is something that no kitmap server has)

Doubtful, it was made by a staff member who was into that.I might put something up on the badlion youtube channel in the soon future. We just don't have any youtubers like we did back then.
I don't have time to analyze other staff teams thoroughly enough to make a direct comment, but I will say that any server that requires you to have a paid rank to apply sucks.
I personally honestly have nothing wrong with MineHQ or they would still be blacklisted (as they once were for 2ish years), just certain people inside of the organization. It just gets old every 6 months hearing about how they are gonna kill us with their new project from the community yet it never happens.

Who knows with soup ffa. I thought it was coming soon but I had to drop it because quite frankly very little in the community cares about it.
I don't have a specific forum poster, but in general I enjoy posts that actually point out issues (with graphic/video evidence) and how to fix them without being a toxic fuck about it
CM apps are coming VERY soon, the application is going through the final drafts within the CM/admin team.
The only soda I drink is root beer or dr pepper and it is rare when I drink them, quit soda for health reasons.
I don't think I'm going to change the mute system as is other than bringing in an automod for basic offenses and maybe making the forgiveness range longer (so last 12 months instead of last 6 months).
Dedicated chatmods might be coming soon, we throw the idea around occasionally and I'm sure it'll stick eventually.
