The Downfall of Rift + AMA

So yes. I guess it is happening. Rift has died. I'm not really sure where to start this post or what even to put in it to be completely honest. I only have myself (and partially Badlion) to blame for rifts inactivity.

Rift’s History

Rift all started with Cerberus. For those of you that don't know, Cerberus was a clan lead by Skwurtle, and it was my very first clan. It was the first time I ever even used teamspeak and I was still nervous just talking to people. I joined Cerberus early early season 13 and maybe even late season 12. I can't quite remember. I definitely met Skwurtle season 12 though. I would just like to thank Skwurtle for introducing me to clans and setting me on a path to starting up Rift, as well as his help and all the work he put into Rift. Now back to the story. I got to know a few people in Cerberus pretty well. Mainly Hamatito, Tegerus, q0p, and Trivision. To this day I still talk to all of them almost daily and am great friends with all of them. After being in TS a lot with them and just playing a ton in general in Cerberus, I decided that the community we had was lots of fun, and that I wanted to make my own clan. I talked to Skwurtle and apologized, and from there I left along with Dave(q0p). He helped me a lot in the creation of Atlas, which was the new clan. When I made atlas it started getting a lot of attention because I was doing everything I could to get all the best players. We made a clean looking forum post and tried to get a lot of hype surrounding atlas. Not even like 2-3 weeks later we merged. Atlas was very short and I doubt many people even remember it as we basically never scrimmed or even did anything. Merging with Saber was one of the smartest decisions we could have made because of MCunbreakable and Rockky. They were some of the best people to lead Rift with and I’m glad I got to meet both of them. They had great ideas and there success from Saber was inspirational. For anyone who is unaware of saber, saber was a small clan of about 10-15 people that was originally an MCSG clan, but when that died they came over to Badlion. The most notable thing about Saber is their strategy. Since they are a small clan they have lots of time to come up with ideas and strategies revolving around formations and playstyles and it is so impressive. Not even kidding one time I was talking to Matt(MCunbreakable) and he had a formations picture that was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I'll link it here

This man was going all out. This was for formations and routes for archer and he was getting super into it. I'm pretty sure Saber is going to be starting up again so if you're into SG or intense strategy or just looking for a nice community to join then definitely take a look at Saber. The turning point for Rift when it went from random clan to one of the best was when we beat Ezra. I remember all of us being super hyped for the clan battle and when we beat them we all were so happy. Another small story about this is that we had to go in TS with Hivlik and argue for about 20 minutes straight on whether or not we were scoring correctly. After the argument there was still not a decision made, so nobody was really sure what happened. Then the next dayKarliXon came on and said that he was fine to call it a win for us. Would just like to thank him for seeing eye to eye with us. The next fun thing for Rift was Rift IRL. It took forever to get a lot of pictures, and there was a lot of last minute shit but in the end the video turned out really well and got a lot of attention. Now comes the downfall for Rift. The reason Rift slowly started dying is because of inactivity. I was never really motivated enough to setup CB’s and when skwurtle left (along with a few others) that was a pretty big demotivator. Then big things kept piling on top of each other and more and more people kept leaving (which is fair - Rift was dying, I don't blame them). Now it is time for me to finally end Rift. It would be painful to continue it and just watch as more and more people leave and it falls into even more of a “depression”.

People I’d Like To Thank

@Rockky and @MCUnbreakable - without you guys Rift would've been nothing. I'm glad I got to know you guys, and it was amazing to lead Rift alongside the both of you.

@Chaninja - You introduced me to the clan community and helped fuel my hatred for Blas and for that I thank you. Jokes aside you have been a good friend despite some of the arguments we may have had. I'm glad I got to know you and look forward to what our friendship will turn into

@q0p - You've been one of my best friends that I've had on MC and a great person in general. You always are there to help people whenever they have issues or just need someone to talk to, and that is something I truly respect. You always seem to have a clear mind and know what's right in situations, and that's why I come to you a lot for advice and highly value your opinions. I know we will continue to be friends even past minecraft or videogames in general and I look forward to it all.

@KarliXon - We don't talk often, and I wouldn't really consider us too good of friends but you are a nice person and I admire your motivation. You were so helpful with the success of Rift especially at the time of Ezra’a disbandment. You promoted Rift and encouraged people join it. For that I thank you.

Zaquez - Thank you for trying your hardest on the EU side of things. I know you wanted to see Rift EU get much better but sadly it's peak has passed.

Blaszczak - Thank you for giving me motivation. Believe it or not your antics made me motivated to try my best with Rift. We used to fight a lot and you made me mad but it's been months since we've fought. I've heard you can be cool when not playing minecraft so yeah. I guess if you ever want to talk then let me know and I'd be 100% fine with that.

Last Thoughts

Rift was one of the most fun things I've been a part of. I'm proud to say I was the leader and I will cherish the memories I've made from it all the way from movie nights to clan SMP to starbound grinding even to that nostalgic night where about the entire clan was on ts (including all the Spanish people) and everyone was just screaming while we did 20vs.20 party fights. It was so much fun and I made an unimaginable amount of friends and connections from it. I feel as though I am a respected member of the community and I am proud to say that this is largely because of Rift. I'm sorry for letting you guys down and giving up on Rift, but it's for the best.

My Future On Badlion

I'm not gonna quit minecraft , but most likely won't be on as much. As of this post I will be leaving Rift. I'm pretty sure Rocky and Matt have their own plans and maybe even something involving what I want to do but nothing is certain. May be starting up a thing called Soft Drinks with friends but nothing too serious. Maybe with season 15 I'll dive back into clans more seriously but for now I'm going to be taking a break from the clan community.

When I first met you I wasn't sure if you were a girl or a boy because your skin is a girl and you were always super nice and it confused me and I never knew up until I talked with you in teamspeak. I remember being like "um hello" and then you talked and I was like "ohhhhhh ok cool" lmaooo. Anyways, you are super nice and seem like a super chill person to be around. We don't hang out enough. If you ever want to talk hit me up. Feel free to join ts. Also you've managed to be an amazing staff member on Badlion and I really respect that
