I think there should be a private chat feature where you can do /chat add {player}. Only you can see whoever you invited into the chat, without seeing the crowded global chat.

I don't think this is something to prioritize at the moment, you can always invite people to a party and use party chat (/pc).

+1, Even though there are many more important things to focus on currently, I am sure this will become a good feature if implemented. It would add them to a chat party which only they can see, which will allow them to play ranked + only talk to their friends.
