Ominous Community Events Discord
Hello everyone. The leaders and officers of Ominous have hosted clan events for our clan members and friends for over a year now. They are a lot of fun and they give clan members a good opportunity to talk to each other and to other members of the community. We've always allowed other players to join our events, but sometimes it is hard to notify players that are not in the clan, so people that would like to take part in events do not know about them. In an attempt to include more people in our events and expand our community, I would like to invite everyone reading this to the new Ominous Community Event Discord.

Invite: http://discord.gg/cmQKDfZ

Below I will hopefully explain everything you need to know about the Discord server and the events themselves. I'm sure to have missed things, so if you have any unanswered questions then please don't hesitate to ask and I will update the thread regularly.

What are the events?
Our events range from CTF 5v5s to large Hypixel parties, and sometimes include non-Minecraft events such as Cards Against Humanity games. There is usually at least one event hosted every day, and we try to vary our events to make them more enjoyable. The list of all types of events with explanations can be viewed by expanding the quote below. More events may be added to this list if they are requested frequently and tested successfully, but for now this is the standard list.

How do I know when an event is?
The discord mentioned above will be the most reliable way to find out about events. When you join the discord, you will be able to see two text channels, #events and #lobby. In #events, all events will be announced along with the time, server, and any other relevant information. The #lobby channel is where you can utilise the rank commands so that you are notified about events you may be interested in.

Ranks
Members of the discord can give themselves ranks corresponding to each type of event. If you have a specific rank, you will be notified whenever an event is hosted that you may be interested in. @CTF will be used whenever a CTF event is hosted, for example, so all CTF players will be aware of upcoming CTF events. Ranks are available for each type of event, and allow us to avoid using @everyone. You can play any events that you like, you just won't be @mentioned for the ones you don't have ranks for. When you obtain a rank, you also gain access to #general where you can chat with other players, and #(rankname) to discuss relevant events. The list of ranks is shown below, but can also be viewed by using the command >ranks in #lobby.
  • Arena
  • CTF
  • CTW
  • Hypixel
  • Mineplex
  • Premium
  • SG
  • Tournament
  • Other
It is strongly recommended that you add yourself to any ranks that interest you by using >rank rankname in #lobby so that you are less likely to miss events. To remove a rank, do >rank rankname again.

How do I join an event?
Joining an event is simple, you just need to join Discord before the event starts and wait for the event host to get started. It is recommended to join ~5 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure that you can play the event from the start. When playing an event, you should change your Discord nickname to your IGN to make it easier for the event host to find you on a server.

Event Hosts
Currently, the events will be hosted by Ominous leaders/officers, but in the future we hope that community members will be willing to host events. Applications may be opened in a couple of weeks if people are interested.

Rules
The rules below are in place to make events run smoothly and keep to keep them enjoyable for everyone.
  • Cheating is not allowed and will result in a permanent ban from events and the Discord, as well as evidence being reported to the
  • server being used for the event.
  • For most events you must have Discord and a working mic, you may be excluded from an event otherwise.
  • If you would get punished for it on Badlion, you'll probably get punished for it here, so use common sense.
  • Banter is fine, but if you continuously taunt/bait other players you may be punished.
  • Be a good sport. Everyone is playing these events for fun so don't ruin it for other people.
  • Leaving a team game just because you don't like the team you are on may result in a punishment.
Punishments
Punishments are administered for breaking rules and will vary. Possible punishments are as follows:
  • Warning on Discord
  • Temp-mute/Perm-mute on Discord
  • Temp-ban/Perm-ban from Discord
  • Exclusion from a single event
  • Temp-ban from all events
  • Perm-ban from all events

Idea: Add UHCs and we will find some Reddit servers who could host for us
@Conorz would this be possible?

Or @Kiivo I could try and arrange a hosted Ultra UHC but no garuntees. In fact, it will be quite unlikely but I could try if you would like?

If possible I'm sure that would be good
I believe me and Ads would also be able to convince a Reddit server to host for us

UHCs are a possibility, but would probably be hosted irregularly so that they are still somewhat 'special' events. Thanks for the idea though @Kiivo @queenl1zzie , I'll keep it in mind
