Future Tournament Suggestions

Hey,There was a few problems with the archer 2v2 tournament today I would like to address. First of all I'll try not to be as bias as possible as some of you probably know I was pretty salty today. My first point would be allowing subs, I understand that if you sign up with someone you should stick with them and its your fault if they don't show up. But I feel in some cases its different as in when your teammate agrees to do the tournament with you and then cancels like the day before, at that point you aren't able to sign up with someone new or get a sub so you are basically screwed. This happened in this tournament with countless numbers of teams and many different top archer teams. Maybe when signing up you could sign up with someone who you would use in a backup scenario in future tournaments?
The second thing would be more of bug but I'll list it here anyway. Some of the people I talked to were affected in the tournament as they were forced to play in 1.7. For some people it feels completely different to switch off of 1.8, so basically what happens is in 1.8 when you kill someone your client crashes.
Lastly would be don't start putting teams into brackets until after signups are closed so you don't have problems with teams that edited there response but are already listed under the bracket.

I understand your concern regarding substitutes, but I disagree. We will continue to allow participants to have substitutes for tournaments where teams of a larger size. (e.g 3v3, 5v5)The entire premise of the Archer duo was to display not individual skill, but a duo's ability to work cohesively and fluidly. I made the decision to disallow substitutes to further the integrity of this concept. You shouldn't be applying with somebody who is unreliable, somebody is going to get you disqualified. By allowing substitutes, you compromise that value of a static duo in the tournament, and instead manifest a team of changing countenance.
You are given two weeks notice in advance, which is plenty time to sort your scheduling out for the event.
In comparison to other team-based tournaments, Archer tournaments are much shorter than other tournaments. The tournament was completed in under three hours, while other tournaments usually take at least five hours. It is much more understandable to enable substitutes for these tournaments, as they are longer and include more people, and as a result, more disqualifications happen.
Accidents happen, stuff comes up, I get that. I understand how you may get frustrated when you are disqualified for your teammate's actions. To uphold this idea of a skilled duo, however, some luxuries, such as being able to swap out your partner at anytime, have to be suspended.
Regarding the bug, there is nothing that the tournament team could've done about this, unfortunately. If it hasn't be reported yet, it should be reported to the bugs section of the forums, so that the developers may patch it.
Regarding the sign-ups, I completely agree. That's why we closed sign-ups a bit early this go-around. Old habits die hard, though, and I'm afraid we didn't execute it that way. It'll definitely happen in the future.
I appreciate your feedback. I know that some of this may conflict with what you think, but I do respect your opinion and input.

While subs would be good, I think that is is a safe bet to be more lenient on punishments for team tournaments as if a teammate is disqualified, you should be allowed to sub in with another player if you, yourself are present; However, this can also be abused to have yourself signed up with a lower skilled player, and sub in a godly player. Overall, if your teammate is not present, you should not be DQed from the next tourney if it is a 1v1 tournament, but you should be cautioned when signing up for team tournaments.
