Still planned. At the moment we are waiting for some Season 15 stuff to be sorted before we tackle this tournament.

First link is about a new league where 7/8 teams were invited. Probably because none of these teams would have participated in a qualifier for a unknown league in it's first year. It doesn't really speak for the competitiveness of the league.

Maybe I overread it but the second link is mainly about that SK Gaming is already qualified because it is mathematically impossible to not make the qualification cut off.

The third link is really interesting. I didn't know that Dota does these direct invites but it also seems like they are breaking the direct invites down. In 2015 they had 10direct invites, now they "only" have 6.

I understand if you want to be able to invite teams. Through the invites you can hold the favourite teams of the viewers in the tournament so the finale tournament of the Diamond Series will get guaranteed a lot attention but personally I don't like it. It doesn't really speak for the competitiveness of the league.
