UPDATE: CLICK HERE FOR A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE TWO SYSTEMS!For the last year or so, the community has been unhappy about MMR. You guys (the administration) have argued back for a long time, saying that MMR is more balanced, it favors skill more by reducing the impact of a single match, it creates much better targets with its promo/demote matches, and it's more polished. Regardless, the community rejected this system. The only apparent reason for this, was that ELO has been around so long that it is the community's frame of reference for skill in this game. We don't know how good an emerald 3 is, we don't know if ComboDombo or HattoWolf would've been Masters, and we don't know what rank really is equal to 2K.
So ELO was brought back, and I can't say enough how happy I am that the decision was made to do this. I was on board with MMR at first, I liked the ratings and I thought it could work better than ELO. But I'm glad that after it didn't work out, you guys saw the rejection of it and decided to switch back. Successful networks see their mistakes and acknowledge them rather than trying to work around them.
Now, here's my issue with the new system: ELO is cut in half. The reason people wanted ELO back is as a reference, a comparison, because it's familiar and they know what the numbers mean. To change it on a such a fundamental level completely changes the meaning of the numbers in the ELO system and ruins the biggest reason people wanted ELO back this whole time.
Bring back the original ELO system. If you're going to use ELO, go all the way and use the ELO people want to see.

+1 it took me years to reach 1600Posted on 14 August 2017 - 03:58 AM
In my opinion this is a good middle ground. The amount of points you can gain or loose is like mmr and the system is elo. I don't think the only reason that people hated mmr was because they couldn't compare, it was because it was different. Even if there was an exact conversion people would still choose the numbers. The system itself right now is pretty damn good. Now if you get high elo you won't have the constant fear of getting -31ed. So people don't stop playing when they get a certain rankPosted on 14 August 2017 - 03:59 AM
+1i said this also bring back the +31 like the good old daysPosted on 14 August 2017 - 04:00 AM

+1, idk if it's just me but whenever I win a match and I gain 8 elo when I'm at 1400 it feels hella demotivating and like there's no progress.Last edited on 14 August 2017 - 06:53 AM by Magiclz
+1, though it wouldn't come in season 15 and probably if it were to come back it would be in season 16Posted on 19 August 2017 - 12:58 AM
+1 Although it's going to be a lot easier to get higher up on the leaderboards seeings as how if you are already 2600+ and you gain +1 elo and maximum when you lose is around 15, which back then you would still gain the same amount (+1) but just lose more (-31)Posted on 19 August 2017 - 05:02 AM

I don´t really have an opinion if the halved elo or the old elo is better.Back in season 12 I was nowhere close to the top, but I do remember everyone (including Danteh when he got 2800) complaining about how the elo sistem was bad, that the only gain 3 and loose 30 bla bla bla.
I understand If you want it back, but have a reason for it and think it before commenting, dont do stuff like "I miss the good old days" or "In season 12 I got 1800 in a week now im only 1600" and stuff like that.

I had an extended talk with archy yesterday about the nature of elo systems, I'll update this later and let you guys know what I found out.Posted on 19 August 2017 - 09:45 AM
-1 It would take more dedication and skill to climb the leaderboards with the 1/2 elo.
