How do MMR ranks work?

arcane is down rn so i started playing some elo here again…anyway, I was curious as to a few things. Firstly, what are the rank progressions? (ie: what the fuck is platinum and where does it stand?) Secondly, why do my ELO and MMR ranking display differently in game than on the website, and what does this mean?
just need a link to some sort of explanation on how ranking works this season really, even though I dont plan on playing much of it.
