Talking with @Jinxful he told me about the idea he had, "blacklisting words" and since I had the exact opposite idea a while ago, "whitelisting words" I'm making this threadThe concept is pretty simple, many people play with chat disabled but many don't because they wanna know if someone says something regarding them, the solution to this is whitelisting words. When having chat disabled you will only be able to see what people write if what they say has a whitelisted word in it.
Similiar concept with blacklisting words, with chat on I wouldn't see words that I blacklisted. This would be very helpful because you could just blacklist "wl" or "whitelist" and you won't have people spamming you (on their screen it will look like they actually sent the message but you won't get it)
This is how it would look like, /words would bring up this:

And clicking on it would bring up this

Needles to say that when you do /words there's a black wool next to the white one that uses the same gui concept.

Hello. I'm going to add a +1 for this idea. This would be useful for players. Anyway, there's already the command /tgc active in the whole network. I would remake the GUI but this idea is really cool.Last edited on 12 September 2017 - 12:35 PM by Jinxful
My other idea, an add-on to chat customisation:If you want to see what your friends are saying in chat it gets blurred in with everything else so it can be quite annoying.
So you should have the option to whitelist certain players" in a turned off global chat, only their msges will pop up in chat. Most people remove global chat to improve fps, or the fact that it can get quite annoying/pointless seeing it. It would be a cool idea if you could customise who you see in chat cause you might want to see what certain people are saying in chat.
If you don't understand already here is an example.
Before whitelisting player(s): JuztChicken and Kiivo
Global Chat (as normal):
Lemowel: gg
Joyful: ez
JuztChicken: I'm the best sg player
Saimo: say 123 if you want to join my party
Kiivo: Yo Jinxful wanna do some 2v2s
After whitelisting Juztchicken and kiivo:
JuztChicken: I'm the best sg player
Kiivo: Yo Jinxful wanna do some 2v2s
*crossed out chat represents it not being there
I'd be able to see the effects of having a less spammy chat, and at the same time I would be able to see what my friends are saying in chat without it being among the global chat.

So your putting on a personal chat filter?Last edited on 12 September 2017 - 04:36 PM by cupifull
I like the idea, but I don't at the same timePosted on 12 September 2017 - 04:33 PM
To be honest, I'm against this. It would take away a lot of the meaning behind having a public chat in the first place.Posted on 12 September 2017 - 04:36 PM

It's just not public chat, I would use the blacklist feature to blacklist "whitelist" "ranked matches" etc to not get spammed in pms

I guess I should've made this more detailed. If someone messages me and what they send me has a blacklisted word then I won't see the message but on their screen it will look exactly like they sent it, using /ignore would let them know that I ignored them and ignoring many people takes time and is quite slow/annoying to do.

This sounds nice and all but I'm unsure how needed it really is. I think the concept is great but I agree that there are other options currently.

I'm neutral because as uv stated, there are some cons along with some prosPosted on 13 September 2017 - 01:42 PM
