Ban logging system.
Hey guys, another suggestion I think would work well for Badlion in terms of the Staff and it might benefit the players as well. The "ban log" would be a subforum only available to members with the staff permissions and would have sub-forums within that for each staff member(ex: Badlion.net -> Forums -> Login -> Ban Reports -> Ban Log -> McNerdx's Log -> Vampiric_Hunter AutoClicking) this would be useful so that people can request to see their evidence in the ban, I see too many Mods(Although it is in their discretion) delete the evidence within 2-3 days, while this does work on some levels if somebody applies a day/week late you can't provide evidence of the ban, if it really is incorrect it's unfair to the player that they have to wait another month+ to appeal for something they might not have done. Please have this added if/when possible so that this little issue with appealing gets sorted out.

they keep records of each of their bans, but they don't necessarily keep evidence past 48 hours after the ban. That's a hell of a lot of evidence to keep, so they just delete it.

Exactly my point, if they upload it to YT, copy the link and make a thread in their "Ban Log" forum, they can easily gather the evidence they need past 48 hours if a player requests it, it's extremely unfair if a player is innocent and doesn't even get to see proof of his "cheating", if he does request evidence and the Mod has already deleted it they must wait a month to appeal(To serve the punishment), but if they didn't do it.. this could help. Keeping records of bans is utterly useless without evidence, as you can just go to their ladder profile and look at "Punishments", anybody can do that, but I'm saying they should log EVIDENCE of bans, so that they can provide it if requested at any point in time.

That's still a shit load of evidence that you have to upload to Youtube on a daily basis. Most of the mods' computers and internets can't handle that, likely, and it would just make moderating harder. I don't think that's the right solution.

on some mod's internets it might take like 3 hours to upload

10 bans a day = 30 hours to upload a day wtf my head

So the "right solution" is just deleting evidence and saying "Nope, denied, sorry we deleted the evidence, wait 2 months to appeal.", let me put this into perspective, if you were a detective on a case and you log something into the evidence locker you can use it in court(If you're a Mod and you log a ban you can use it in an appeal) but if you just throw it in the trash the person walks free(but if you delete evidence the person stays banned even if they're innocent). See how I think about it?

I understand your argument Vampiric, but then again the player has two days to appeal his/her ban. 99% of the time, the player is aware that they were banned off of the server, so being on vacation and getting banned and not being able to post a ban appeal within 2 days is an invalid argument. If somebody cares enough about their account, and especially if they were actually innocent, then they'd appeal right away.

It's not about being on vacation, sometimes it's about just taking some time to think about the ban. I check the appeal/report section regularly and I've seen enough appeals denied that were actually innocent people that had to wait months for an unban because a Mod deleted the evidence, while it isn't fair that that happened I understand why the evidence would be deleted, all I'm saying is that if there's a solution to that, why not take it?

Mods are required to have video evidence of all cheating related bans (except Autoclicker). We used to make mods keep it for 2 weeks, but some of the more active mods were having 500-600GB of evidence in those 2 weeks, maxing out their harddrives.

The fact is if you don't appeal within 2 days you lose the right to see evidence of your ban if it's not a logged offense (speed hacking, autoclicking, chat logs, etc). We have overturned bans without video evidence however.
