So obviously at it's current state Minecraft will never be an e-sport becausea. It's minecraft
b. So many people play scummy/super defensively that it wouldn't really be fun to watch. Like remember Restump's time in Elite where he cleaned up like 5 people? People would just play really defensive and go for cleans at e-sport level unless there were restrictions around that. Plus you got:
- Chugging/drain games that helps no one
- People burning their stuff in lava when they will die so that they just wasted their opponent's time and healing
- People stealing loot after a close fight
- People being waaay too toxic (remember mundial or na elite recently lol)
c. The game is just bland now. It's all a melee game. Half the time people don't bother making bows or using power books to get good bows. Sure, melee is fun, but in an e-sport UHC where everyone is good at PVP, literally all the matches would be decided by who is the most stacked since everyone would trade one for one with Fire Aspect swords and just chug away until someone's healing or armor is gone/broken. Remember Reddit? I don't say go full on bow mode, but honestly rewatching old Reddit uhcs are more entertaining for me now, especially since they are way more vanilla/actual mc style where not everyone has full diamond prot 3 and 20 gaps or, now with the new Badlion everyone has like full diamond prot 4 sharp 4 or 5 fire aspect diamond, with someone usually having a stack of gaps. There is no real strategy anymore except pure fighting, and of course both players fight pretty much the same way, the only strat being to sweat with blocks/water/bow/lava differently.
Like I would like a UHC that had fighting more like back when the 1v1 of the ages occurred. A lot of that fight was bow, but then they went melee too. They actually cared about their terrain and played strategically. Eventually they went into an all out bowfight and then did melee.
Also in my opinion the border shrinks now shrink to too small of an arena. In such a small space literally the only strat is to melee, like why bother to bow in such a small place. The only bowing that would happen is limp dicking lol or around walls, which is pretty stupid and usually only when someone is definitely losing.
Like even a UHC like the first season of united, I remember how epic the second to last episode was. Everyone was everywhere, it was such a big place and people were using the terrain to their advantage. People did a good deal of bowing and had a lot of melee fights and such. And no one cleaned, the most cleaning was when Nestor fought Ize after Ize killed Tybzi, which wasn't really a clean at all. Honestly I think the border should not have a major shrink after that size that was in that episode of united and should just shrink by one after like five minutes have passed in the fight between the final two. And the border shrinks I feel should be based on people left, not just based on time. This in order to reduce cleaning since so many people are in the same vicinity that it's ridiculous, why is everyone in such a small space together?
Some other things is that I think placing blocks should slow you down a tiny bit or just stop your sprint along with taking up food/saturation. I think food should have more of an impact in UHC since now people only need to gap to eat lol. To some extent it should affect your speed, though obviously not too much. Like three food bars down you get a bit slower and a bit weaker.
Also of course if we could do so there should be head shots, so that bow shots onto the person's face do double damage or something like that. That would take immense skill, however it shouldn't be like that for all bow charges. For the one drawback bow shots it should be like a multiplier of 1.01, then for double drawback 1.15, then for fully pulled back 1.5. Will definitely help bring the bow back into the game and actually be used as a weapon lol.
Also for bow it makes since to have to have the arrows in your hotbar in order to use them. Or just add a quiver thing. And no I really don't think arrows should be in like stacks of 64, I think 16. So how about this, arrows are stackable in groups of 64, but in your hotbar/quiver thing you can only have 16 arrows at a time?
As for lava, it's really dumb that you get that no-knockback effect when you are on fire. Sure we are all used to it but it's a stupid game mechanic. It should damage you but not give you the effect, it'll just shake your screen without actually "hitting you" and not count as a hit so that you can still get knocked back like usual. Just make it do less damage or last shorter so that lava isn't extremely OP.
Deboufing with splash potions I think would be nice to add to UHC but obviously deboufing is kind of dumb right now, you can barely throw the potions that far and it's basically like bed bomb fights but worse range. Make it so you can kind of throw it like shooting a bow but different mechanics, definitely less range. And the splash radius I feel should be increased, so basically potion grenades type stuff. Potions should be stackable in your inventory in like groups of 5, but you can only have 3 in your hotbar at a time.
Now with mining, how about we make it a bit biome based? So all biomes will have equal iron and coal, but swamp biomes and under lakes/oceans have a lot more levels, jungles and snow biomes have the most gold, and diamonds are best found in extreme hills and oak/birch forests and etc. Also, emeralds should be more frequent and more useful, like for example you can get potions, enchanted books, plain armor, and other craft able goods from villagers. Actually, make a currency system, where you can use redstone, lapis, and emerald for trading. All biomes of the same type should have equal amounts of resource per chunk on average, and veins should vary much less in amount to reduce games being decided because one guy's cave had 64 diamonds while some other guy had cave that had 4 one veins of diamonds.
Also I would make mobs have a bigger impact on the game. You ever heard of the "Zombie Awareness" mod? I think mobs should have this A.I., it is hardcore after all. The nether should also have mobs have a bigger impact.
Now I think the people should be divided into four groups, and each group goes to kind of their own map. Eventually they get to the final shrink which, as I mentioned before, should not be that small. Then they all enter a stronghold and the final fight happens in the end. Of course, I would love to see a 1.9/1.12 type end as it makes the end much more fun and explorable, or have something like the H.E.E mod but not as hardcore. The four groups also lessens the amount of people that are in the same "game"/"world", reducing cleaning/extreme snowballing where one guy already wins far before the end of the UHC by having 10 heads, a stack of gaps and full prot 3/4 armor. It calls for more strategic play, bowfighting, meleeing at the right times, potion use, etc, as we as people not always having the same caves as someone else.
And of course, I would want no-clean in the games since no one likes watching people clean, and it prevents stuff from burning in lava when someone dies by putting it all in a chest, and no one likes or respects cleaning except when they do it.
And remove scummy stuff like burning items in lava when you are gonna get killed an etc, that's bad sportsmanship in an e-sports competition and is just really dumb, it should just should be against the rules. After all, a sports team doesn't get to just start punching people when they are losing. For a game that will have e-sports, scummy stuff should be put at a minimum, as really it's for the money, and people won't watch a bunch of toxic scumbags playing a block game.
And I would like naturally spawning structures like jungle temples, witch huts, etc to be much more useful or for there to be more structures.
tl;dr basically change a lot of stuff xd

that's precisely the problem, mojang would had need to change minecraft for pvp a long time ago, now it's far too late since we have been stuck with 1.7.10 for like 5 years (someone tell me how many years actually idk)

It'll be hard making an esport out of a game that wasn't made to be played competitively in the first placePosted on 09 November 2017 - 12:38 PM
border depending on timevs
border depending on players
we need the latter

We really need a change, from 1.8 and above, everything has been going downhill.Posted on 09 November 2017 - 01:50 PM
1.9 was the change that was meant to revive Minecraft pvp. You guys have decided for 2 years now not to even touch it, and now you're stuck with a dying 1.7 pvp system. Congrats.Last edited on 09 November 2017 - 02:10 PM by Radioactivebeans

I do agree with you concerns, however I do not agree with the ideas you posted to fix them. Im hoping that a conback to the old caving will help things.I do agree about the border being too small, which I thing increases cleans but thats about it the rest of the ideas I do not like too much, and I think the community will like it even less.
Honestly I do not have many more ideas on how to fix UHC´s biggest problems, after all it is something that will be hard to overcome, if its even possible. So I cant really add on to the table this time i´ll be the "only criticize not add anything" type of guy :P
