Losing elo to a hacker? What if you got it back?
I think if you lose elo to a hacker, and that hacker gets banned within 48 hours, you should regain the elo you lost onto your current elo. I don't know if this is possible to implement, but it would be great. I came up with this because I went from 2.1 to 1800 from hackers, and most of them have been banned already.

I like the idea, but I would say if someone were to get banned you'd get your ELO back regardless of a time limit (48 hours), it'd be interesting to see how that'd work out.

l liked because this make "hackers" angry, because legit players don't lose anything after 48h (if the opponent is hacking)

I was thinking it should be over a span of time, maybe more than 48 hours, because maybe they didn't start cheating until later.

If this were to get implemented, I don't think there should be a time span. I think this should only count for permanent bans, as somebody could go and get banned for a week and boom somebody has +15 more ELO.

2.1 to 1800 from hackers

Either this is an exaggeration or a flat out lie.

I like the idea but I see one problem with this, it's hard to explain so I'll give an example. If you got drained from 2k to 1800 because of a hacker then fought an 1800 and lost that 1800 would gain 16 elo and you would lose 16 elo, now let's say you get your elo back. That means the 1800 you lost to should've gained more than 16 elo and you should've lost more than 16 elo as you would be a 2k while fighting him, if you gain/lose how much elo you were supposed to then this would become a chain reaction throughout the leaderboards because then whoever that 1800 fought should either gain more elo or lose less elo. If there's a fix to this I think this could work out.

Neutral.

-1 What would happen if someone were to get a hacker friend or friends and have them hack on him and he just gets elo for free?
This causes a chain event that was explain in S14 but I don't feel like explaining it
and it would cause too much work for the devs/staff

-1 what if the person that got banned gets unbanned after the reviewing the evidence by higher staff, some mods will get a ban or 2 wrong for sure, also what if someone account gets hacked into, giving Elo back from 'hacker' means elo will be taken from them and you can bring my original point that some people get banned unfairly.

It's been suggested many times but it always have flaws.

+1 but Badlion has to find the perfect way to do it, it is really hard to do this

Seeing how this would work, you wouldn't get more elo than what you had previously, it would only restore the amount you lost to said cheater.

This has been suggested countless times in the past, and each time it has been denied since the possible chain of events that could happen. Let's take this event (and yes, this is a very extreme version of the case).

A 2500 elo player (who's true elo is 2500, meaning they can always get back up to 2500 if they are playing how they usually do and we are assuming they can do that on command) get's drained by a hacker down to 2000. They then get back up to 2500 because their true elo is 2500 (meaning they can get back up there). The hacker then gets banned, and the elo is refunded, and now they're at 3000. That makes zero sense. If you weren't to have fought that hacker, you would've fought different people. As a 2k player, you can fight 1300-1400 elo players and get +1s from them. However, in 2500, you need to fight 1800+ players. It makes it just that much more difficult as a result, and because the matchmaking is different for what your rating is, theoretically a flat refund system would break, and a ripple effect refund system (that would recalculate all elo if the hacker didn't ever exist) would also be hugely problematic.

I feel as if that was enough, but for good measure, I'll add one more example. Let's say that I'm a 1999 elo player. I fight a 1400 player. The 1400 is a fresh account who is hacking, and I manage to win (because I am skilled and the hacker is clearly not a very good hacker [this isn't how it would actually go, I'm hot trash]). I then hit 2k. If it's a ripple effect system, I just lost 2k when that hacker gets banned. Anything that happens to elo positively also has to happen negatively. That's how the system has to work.

Tl;dr This won't work.

more of an exaggeration, after I lost to 3 hackers, I couldn't win a game
