i was diamond 5 in s14 and im pretty good, basically w tapping isnt as useful in build as it is in nodebuff but w tapping at certain key times in a build fight give you an advantage and can prolong combos. Also a lot of build is trading, but if you land ur rod and whilst hitting ur opponent after landing a rod you time w taps, you will often win that trade and get an extra hit or two (you also need to be clicking kinda fast). People dont realise that when fighting a good player in build, w tapping after landing a rod really can give you an edge.
