Hello everyone,So ELO was implemented again into badlion the beginning of s15. However, I don't think this was the right decision for badlion because of the following, MMR is more precise and accurate, and it's proven because many other games like Overwatch use MMR which proves that MMR is good. Also, with ELO you can only rank up every 200 elo for example, from 1700 to 1900 thats 200 elo to rank up, but with MMR you can rank up more times and make videos saying "Emerald III in BuildUHC" but with Elo you can only make videos every 200 elo which means you can't make as many videos when you rank up which some people find it pretty hard to rank up 200 elo for videos, but with MMR you could rank up so many times for example from Gold V, Gold IV, Gold III, Gold II, and Gold I, then you could make more videos. In my opinion, back in s14 when badlion had MMR, it was more alive, you would so people making "Diamond V in BuildUHC" or "Masters In BuildUHC" and ArenaPVP was so much fun back then. But now it's just people trying to rank up more so they sweat like their life is dependent on it. With MMR on the other hand people would be satisfied if they ranked up to "Gold II" for example, but with Elo you don't really get that satisfaction its just like you ranked up to 2000 elo and it doesn't show up in chat, you have to get 100 MORE elo just to see it in chat and like take a screenshot when you get it. If you think about it, many people have quit now since the new change when Badlion implemented ELO. But I know people asked for ELO, that doesn't mean everybody liked ELO, but badlion has to think about it like this. No matter what badlion does, it's going to be some people that hate on it because they are not use to it. Like when they removed elo I know the community was big and scary because they were not use to MMR. To add on, with MMR you have a second chance sort of, so say if you're Emerald III and you enter a match with only 14/1000 points and you loose you get a demotion match next time you play which I thought was pretty cool because you just don't go down to Emerald IV instead they give you a chance but with ELO you don't get that chance which I'm pretty sure most people would want that second chance. But with elo if you're a 2100 elo and you loose you'll just automatically get Emerald and loose your Saphire. Yeah but now that we have Elo a lot of people want MMR back so you can never win lol.
P.S
Huge shout out to Sharpify for most of these ideas he has really helped me a lot with this thread
+1 if you agree please

I don't care which is used, I just want to point out a few things.A) Just because a particular game uses MMR, that doesn't mean it's better/more accurate. I can name games that use ELO instead of MMR but that doesn't make ELO magically better. I'm not saying either is better than the other, I'm just pointing out a flaw in the logic.
B) The amount of videos you can make based on how quickly you rank up has nothing to do with it. The whole point of these types of skill calculating methods, I'm not sure of the proper terminology so I'll just refer to them as that, is to calculate the skill of the individual and to place them relative to everyone else. It has got nothing to do with allowing an individual to pump out more videos or not. In my eyes people posting more videos regarding their rank would be more of a disadvantage, but each is to their own of course.
C) You talk about people being more satisfied with MMR as it's quicker to rank up but wouldn't it be more satisfying with ELO since you have to put more work in and all that work would pay off? That's how I see it at least.
I couldn't care less what system is used as long as it is relatively accurate. Switching between systems is just a waste though, you're better off just picking one and sticking to it so the developers can work on more important things.

God, fuck this community lmao. I've said it before and I'll say it again; this entire community is AIDs. I was a Community Manager during the whole backlash about "ELO IS BETTER THAN MMR" "FUCK BADLION" "BRING BACK ELO" and whatever the fuck, and when BL brought back Elo, I'm not gonna lie, I was unhappy. I never supported elo over MMR, always thought MMR is a better system and I still hold to that. But I thought it was a good move because at least in my eyes at the time from a PR perspective, it was great. They listened to the community and said "okay, we hear you, we'll bring it back FOR YOU GUYS." And now we're sitting here like "hey, remember all that shit we talked about Badlion for getting rid of Elo and implementing MMR because we thought MMR was trash? yeah we're sorry we actually like MMR Elo is shit lmao." Could you make up your minds? I don't remember exactly where but I recall seeing Archy state that the top 5 or 10 would be the exact same if we'd use Elo or MMR (not sure what season) by them actually running all the matches through both rating systems. Is that not telling that it really doesn't fucking matter? MMR is implemented in an entirely different manner when implemented as pure MMR, but Badlion didn't use pure MMR because that was shut down almost instantly (S13). Everyone hated it. The S14 MMR that everyone seemed to love was in many ways closer to Elo than it was MMR; win streaks no longer were a thing, the start had a larger fluctuation in rank yes but not significantly, and the match making could not have been at the standard it needed to be. Honestly, I don't think MMR was the best fit for Badlion, and think in many ways Elo is better. There is something to keep in mind when talking about Minecraft versus other large esports like Overwatch or Rocket League or CS:GO. Those games have a larger player base. As a result, you aren't always going to be matched against someone of your rank. MMR is super accurate against other people around your rank, but when it's people of entirely different ranks, it sucks. Climbing through Masters was often just farming on silvers and bronzes and constantly getting 14 points for it, which is straight up bad match making but at the same time what could Badlion have done? They don't have a population large enough that there's always a Masters player to fight the next guy with. So what you guys are asking for back is really just MMR with many changes to make it as close to elo as possible while being less effective because of the lower player count. Honestly, I think that it doesn't matter which rating system is implemented and if I had to pick one, well, I think in many ways it'd be Elo.tl;dr: S14 MMR wasn't pure MMR, it was MMR made as close as possible to elo (afaik), and whichever rating system is implemented doesn't matter because the community will complain about it either way.
