EU proxy is now live at eu.badlion.net
NA proxy is now mc.badlion.net and na.badlion.net
Terminology
Proxy = Application that connects all the servers together
Server = What you actually play on (Soup, UHC, Potion, etc)
You should connect to the correct proxy for your region to access both NA and EU servers at the best ping possible. I'll teach you guys how to calculate your ping so you can optimize your ping for the lowest possible! You'll need command prompt open for this.
NA Proxy connecting to NA Servers
"ping mc.badlion.net" in command prompt. Whatever it returns is your ping.
NA Proxy connecting to EU Servers
"ping mc.badlion.net" in command prompt and add 80 (worst case) onto the ping it gives. This is your overall ping to the EU servers.
EU Proxy connecting to EU Servers
"ping eu.badlion.net" in command prompt. Whatever it returns is your ping.
EU Proxy connecting to NA Servers
"ping eu.badlion.net" in command prompt and add 80 (worst case) onto the ping it gives. This is your overall ping to the the NA servers.
There is a direct connection between our datacenters as they are hosted by the same company, which means little to no outside traffic interference!!! From my initial tests, EU have the same ping or way better ping by connecting to the EU proxy for both NA and EU servers. Overall you should notice that the best connection is typically connecting to whatever proxy is closest to you for both NA and EU servers. If I catch people purposely abusing the proxy system to increase your ping you'll find me forcing people onto their correct proxy automatically (I can easily do this with simple IP tracking and kicking you if you're on the wrong one from a code based side), and this will probably happen in a few weeks anyway.
PotionPvP and UHC now has EU servers too. These are trial for now, and depending on how they do I will keep them or get rid of them. This weekend will be the first real test. The reason I created EU servers were to help out the EU players to have better ping. The other reason was because NA Potion PvP was maxing out way too much when both NA and EU players were on, and the best solution I thought of was to make an EU server to attempt to spread out the numbers so more people overall could play.

I had to take off the EU servers until further notice due to it repeating losing connection to the database (this kills the server). The EU proxy is still up but /register might not work on it.Posted on 09 January 2015 - 05:19 PM
@Archybot @MasterGberry I joined to badlion with eu.badlion.net and the server list pinged 30 ms, same as cmd, but when i joined soup, my ping was around 300 ms, worse than before. And this happend too with Potpvp. Im from spain and i get 150-200 ms without the proxy, what's wrong with it?Posted on 09 January 2015 - 07:26 PM
