Because:- It gives the opponent fire damage along with damage for being in it in the first place.
- Requires the opponent to look down to place a water bucket, giving them free hits.
- Lets think about it like this, if you lose both water buckets and they still have lava, no matter how much healing you have, the chances are you will lose, which strangely enough is a large advantage.
The real question you should be asking is "why do people NOT think lava spamming is a good idea? lol" that will give a few interesting answers and debates I think.
