Hey. So, to avoid any flame wars, this is not a thread to discuss if being gay is normal, acceptable, moral, or whatever else. I do not think that there is a productive way to have that conversation on these forums, and so I ask you all kindly to leave it aside. If you "don't agree," find another post, move along. Furthermore, if I find you harassing people for the stuff I find in this thread, I cannot say what I will do exactly, as the circumstances will matter, but I can promise you that I will not be happy with you, and would say up front, that is something you should try to avoid.

Now that that's out of the way, hi! I'm Ben or Cratain. I'm 21 years old and identify as either bi or pansexual, that means I like people of all genders. I now go to a school where saying that people are accepting is an understatment. My sister knows and is chill with it, I don't tell my parents in the same way that I don't tell them anything about my sex life. It's super cool now to be in an environment where I can be super open about things.

Before I was though, honestly, I talked about stuff most honestly with people online. I didn't have to worry about anything I told them getting back to my near circles–something about the quasi-anonymity of it all made it so easy to first talk about things. I think that having that there as a place to discuss was really helpful to me in sorting things out, and eventually being out to people around me.

I know this is just a Minecraft server, but I also know at times it can feel like there's nowhere to really talk about this stuff, and I want to provide something, for anyone who wants to talk, vent, or just be out. Feel no pressure at all–if you're just lurking and reading, know that you're still valid and appreciated <3 As a last note, please, don't out people, let them say for themselves if they want to.

In all seriousness, I'm gay and I came out to my friend last year when I was fifteen and it turned out that 3 of my best friends were gay too. This year I came out to my parents and they did that they would love me no matter what and they accepted the fact that I was gay. I cried like a little baby :).

I respect that. I myself am straight, but wholeheartedly support you in your endeavors and I'm really happy that your family and environment is so accepting of you. I knew someone who was gender fluid (or thought they were at the very least, they were quite young at the time, only 14 so may or may not have been, I don't actually know) but was always afraid to come out to their parents because they weren't going to be accepting of it. It's great to hear that your friends and family support you.

I don’t think anyone really cares, it’s nothing to be proud of. You don’t get straight people coming out saying ‘I’m straight’. Just keep it to yourself!

I disagree. In this day and age where we've had hundreds (if not thousands) of years of discrimination towards other genders I think it is something to be proud of to be able to openly come out and be honest about yourself. I vividly recall your thread of you coming out as bisexual and remember how much shit you got for making that thread, so I understand why you think it's a better idea to keep quiet about it. The reason people don't make threads to come out and say I'm straight is because honestly, it is technically normal. I don't mean to say that being of a different gender is bad or anything or deserves less respect, but humans are technically supposed to be straight and supposed to be heterosexual so they can reproduce. This makes being homosexual rarer and less accepted. However, I think that if anything that is all the more reason to be proud of one's homosexuality (or bisexuality, whatever the case). I don't think it's about the fact that they are of their gender or that they are saying it, but I think it's about the fact that they can say that they're gay or bi or trans or gender fluid or anything without being shunned anymore. I think that's a beautiful thing if I'm honest.

I meant sexualities. I don't actually know how to tackle genders, I think (and do not quote me on this) there are 2 genders, male and female. However, sexual preferences vary. And what does frball mean?

i'm with @Magiclz here. there's no point in posting this. you don't see straight people going on about how theyre straight and offering support for other straight people who are in distress because theyre straight. i'm not homophobic, just super pointless. this is why people think LGBT members are attention seekers.
