Opinions on Season 16I am going to give an honest opinion on season 16 about what should be changed, added or switched. I have been playing Badlion since late 2013 and so far S16 and S13 have been my least favorites. Badlion is the main reason I still touch this game and not being able to enjoy it like I used to is really sad. You can agree or disagree with anything I say here these are just my opinions.
For me there are 3 main parts of arena which are all important
1- Kits
2- Smoothness of the gameplay
3- Maps
Kits: I have been against the new system of global since day 1 and I don’t know why mentally would even touch something that works fine. It seems to me that in general badlion likes to change certain stuff that don’t really need changing to keep arena dynamic and updated I am assuming but there are some stuff you just shouldn’t change and even if the new change is not worse than the current one it being a « change » just forces people to adapt and rework on the skills they have improved on which is always disliked by the community.
Kits are probably the most important things on arena, I like the idea of adding new kits to keep the server fresh and having fun kits that are not really meant to be try harded also helps. For example bedwars is doing amazing right now and it is probably the best update this season. Having arcade kits that don’t interact with Global elo is a good idea, both pleases the people who want the kit to be ranked and who don’t want it to interfere with global. However the amount of kits that affect global currently is just wrong. I don’t think a single global player supports this idea because it removes the meaning of global which is being a well rounded player.

Statistically I have no idea if this is true we would have to look at the numbers but even if it is, it doesn’t matter if the word global player loses it’s meaning the amount of players that compete for it doesn’t matter. It is very likely that you will get a higher player count if you just make the popular kits affect global, id you want the most amount of players to compete for global just rename Build UHC to “global kit” and you will have the most amount of players. Certainly more people will compete for it but it doesn’t mean it shows the most well rounded player so player count isn’t the determining factor.

Okay so we know badlion wants to lower the amount of kits for global but the question is what and how many kits. The problem with the current kits is that they don’t cover every type of skill arena used to, for example UHC has always been the main bow kit but now its archer which is long range based or there is no kit that represents soup or a rod kit that represents the type of pvp SG does.
The goal of the global ladder should be to represent as many types of necessary skills whilst not making the global ladder heavily based on a certain type of skill
There are 3 types of kits:
Melee
Rod
Bow
I have seen some people divide melee as no speed and speed which in my opinion is very wrong. With speed or not it is still melee and requires pretty similar skills, for example someone who is good at the melee part of NoDebuff will very likely be good at the melee part of soup and rod is too different to be considered just melee.
To make it fair for everyone I want to have the same amount of kits for every type, so which kits and how many? We already know badlion wants to have less than 10 kits so this leaves us with 2 for each and around 6-7 kits.
For rod without a doubt SG and Build UHC I think its pretty self explanatory the only other rod kit that exists is diamond rod which isn’t really a proper kit itself.
For melee have soup and NoDebuff. Why soup? Soup pvp has been around for a really long time and it still is, it requires a very different set of skills that is based around refills and quick dropping bowls which does not exist in any other kit currently. Also because NoDebuff is a speed melee kit it helps diversify global by having a no speed kit. Nodebuff is still popular and combines the skill sets of timing pots pearling and fighting with speed.
Why not Gapple? Gapple is a very trade based kit that revolves around conservation of armor and not mainly fighting also it is one of the few kits that lag is actually an advantage in because of the lack of different skill sets
Why not Debuff? Debuff definetly has different types of skills involved compared to NoDebuff but the problem is that how disliked it is. I know I said popularity isn’t really a determining factor but it still is a factor. In this case the preference of NoDebuff outweighs the skills Debuff contributes. Sadly I don’t think the skill of throwing Debuff is significant enough to replace a very liked kit as a dead kit.
For bow I suggest Archer and UHC:
Amongst bow players UHC has always been the main kit, the only reason archer seems like it is the main kit is because of its name. UHC can be played at every range and doesn’t have other factors like speed or bow boosting which makes dodging a lot easier and stretches out the match. The 1 thing I would change about UHC would be the iron sword, would change it with an unenchanted stone one. The reason I chose archer isn’t actually because it’s a good bow kit, it is because Iron is just terrible. As much as I like Iron it is broken. It is not pure bow and arrow conservation has too much of an effect on the fight. It allows people to be like Matadrian.
So it’s NoDebuff, Soup, Archer, UHC, Build UHC and SG
The council also came to a conclusion similar to this. But you might have seen I skipped 1 kit which is diamond. Diamond is such a weird kit that I am not even sure where it belongs. I feel like diamond has been around forever and it has a very good combination of bow and melee skill but if it was a new kit that was just added I don’t think I would have the same opinion about it so my suggestion is that either these 6 or 7 with diamond.
Smoothness of the Gameplay: The explanation above is the reason why I don’t play global anymore this is the reason I don’t enjoy arena in general anymore. The problem with this is that it is very subjective. To me the kb is terrible and unenjoyable but to other people it might be fine, I really can’t make too many arguments against that other than “it doesn’t feel right” but I will try my best to explain my best arguments on it.
Compared to season 15 it does not feel smooth at all and I feel like this effect is caused by the non existent vertical kb which makes it feel awkward. It’s sad how I prefer random ass SG servers to warm up for non speed melee and not badlion.
Speed 2: I don’t think badlion has had a good speed kb in a while and compared to no speed pvp badlion is not a preferred server. Because both the horizontal and vertical kbs are very low the match ultimately becomes a matter of who can go agro and get more free hits or who can turn around faster to pot.
Making the kb perfect should be an essential for badlion as it is a pvp network and the quality of the gameplay is everything. Badlion should be constantly testing kbs to please the community, especially the pot community
No speed: This is a lot trickier. For speed 2 most of the players seem to have an agreement on how the kb should be or at least how it shouldn’t be but for no speed I have seen a lot of happy and unhappy people with it. If you every play a no speed match without a rod you will see how awkwardly tradey the fight is like in the sword kit. Also as louie pointed out with less kb it is a lot harder to get away from lava. Most people do it unconsciously but the way you get away from lava is by knocking back the opponent without them hitting you.
I say badlion should definetly keep testing new kbs but in the meantime revert back to s15 until a good kb is found
Maps: Maps are a very important part of arena. With current maps the gameplay or the outcome of the match can change which shouldn’t be happening. I shouldn’t have to play differently for each map nor should I have to be careful about the terrain which affects the gameplay poorly. For example almost all of the new maps I have seen were terrible. I don’t know the exact names but I will try to describe them. There are 2 maim Build UHC maps that I hate.
The first one is the nether themed one with mountains around the map. People can easily run around the mountain, get you stuck in a mountain or water while you are chasing them. The rest of the map is also bad. It is filled with height differences and things to jump over that can get you stuck.
The second one is the one with the tree. I honestly don’t know who thought putting giant trees in the middle of the map was a good idea. It is very easy to run around and also get stuck in this tree due to its position. In the middle of the map there is also a huge hole. I don’t know what the purpose of it is but it affects the gameplay poorly.
Any maps that have cover should be edited, just affects the game poorly and gives a way for people to run others arrows out.
Maps should be as flat as possible so any out of the game outcomes don’t occur
Short feedback:
Make the sword kit bets of 3 it is way too random for a bo1
I like the new system where it shows if high elo matches are going on but I would prefer if it was based on ranking aswell. For example make it so everything above 1800 is a pro match but also if 2 people on the first page of the kit are fighting call it something like “top tier match” and have the rankings of both players next to their elo.
All the arcade kits are good additions even though I dont play all
Make it so you can duel with every kit whether its ranked or unranked and be able to start party fights.
For the custom kit menu give people creative mode, custom is supposed to be something fun to do with friends and it doesn’t really make sens to limit stuff. If some specific items may harm the server don’t allow it.
Stat resets, I know they are broken but it is very irritating how some people don’t get their stat resets EVEN the player that got number 1 global last season and I have been asking for it for around 4 months now.
For unranked how new kits every week, it helps keep the server fresh. Doesn’t matter if they make sense or not it’s unranked so just make it fun
I really haven’t seen elo decay so currently I have no comment on that I will update the thread when I do.
I have seen automated tourneys but I think they are broken, I am assuming they will be very fun but in my opinion the public ones should be automatic every x amount of minutes and not hosted by party leaders which would also give rewards but keep the ability of the party leader to host a 1v1 tourney within the party.
I don’t know if this is fully related to arena but push the clans update as soon as you can it has been way too long and I don’t think it should be something that takes this long.
Ffa on arena is very unplayed I dont know why people thought it would be a good idea especially with kits like iron and soup
Overall less bugs than s14 more than s15
I really hope S17 will be the season I get back to arena but currently it really doesn’t seem like I will

I mean badlion don't wanna keep doing the same thing every season on arena change is good if you just keep every season the same it gets repetitive and boring I think the s16 is a fun n somthing different global wise the only real problem is the kb what you picked up on not really got anything to do with season but the knock-back the kb on pot kits are so bad you just trade and it comes down to ping with the dueling issue I will agree they should make it so you can duel bo3 and the maps are refreshing and fun it's all about awareness and add more skill. But with the kits and duel and kb +1 for that apart from that it's somthing you have to get used to as different seasons come in.Posted on 29 March 2018 - 10:28 PM

+1, get this on trending. I am not sure that Mistazel is gonna take this thread serious, as he is the one in charge of kb. I have numerous times tried to contact and tell him how UNHAPPY the community is with it, but it just doesn't seem like he is gonna change it. Gapple is trade based because of the horrible kb and it's not about conservation of armor because if you get more hits HIS armor will break faster so it's more based on strafe/s-tap/w-tap/blockhit and that's why it should be included in global rating …Debuff is harder than no debuff because you need to strafe more to avoid debuffs and if you miss debuffs you can lose the match and that's why a lot of players want it to represent global rating.
