I understand your way of thinking but this would most likely not work out.

If notch wouldnt be retarded we would get nice pvp version with block hit 1.7 and all that shit and with good survival. Notch doesnt give a fuck for servers. He just thinks about surviavl, survival, survival, survival. That is kinda sad

updating to 1.13 is actually a really good idea, the people outside of the pvp community aren't using 1.7 so it's pointless trying to attract new players with an outdated server

Notch isn't even involved into Minecraft anymore…that's Microsoft.

-1 on updating versions, 1.7 is the best version for pvp, which is clear to everyone on the server pretty much, its the pure reason I dont play servers like Hypixel and Hivemc (I used to play hive for sg back in the day) its also the same pathetic idea which brought the downfall of MCSG (not the only reason but one of them) . In terms of management/promotion I agree more work is needed to be done in this compartment but badlion is continuously trying to grow the server, Even with BAC they are trying to partner with different servers. I understand how badlion can sometimes be seen as a "sweaty" server, especially in view of leaderboard players, but it all comes down to the player if you play for ELO you probably sweat unless you cheat, and if you dont play for ELO and just for a casual good time then there you go. In any case, its more about perception and the way you look at Badlion as a community and server

They support 1.8 but thats about as far as it goes, switching to 1.13 would mean the end of 1.7 pvp unless they find a way to make it work which I doubt they will, Correct me if im wrong but thats what most people have told me.

For the 1.7 part, I believe the owners have been wanting to update to a new version for a long time but it's because of you guys that they don't.

"Let dead things go" No, that's just not a good idea. They should be trying to revive those game modes not shut them down. If they were to just remove them do you realize how much work would be wasted. Instead they should make something like a universal update to Minigames that would bring them back. If they could get every gm on badlion to the amount of players uhc meetup has they'd be well on their way to reviving Badlion.

As for paying YouTubers that isn't happening. It's just a scummy tactic to grow your server and I completely disagree with it. The day this happens is the day I resign. Look at Hypixel, they don't pay youtubers yet they're far larger than mineplex who do/did. Eventually your Youtubers will start getting greedy and want more money, if you can't provide this then the YouTubers will leave and shit talk the server, what happens after that? Your server dies because that's what the server was built off of (exactly what happened to Mineplex). While the servers who got their YouTubers to play without paying them will still stay alive because they can hold their ground without them, as well as that the YouTubers wouldn't get greedy in the first place because they weren't getting paid to play.

"Not a competitive sport"
You clearly haven't played anything that takes any real skill/teamwork in this game, but you're right about one thing, right now the server needs to focus on getting casual players then start working its way towards being an esport again. Right now Badlion lacks casual players which are needed to create competitive players and move it forwards as a competitive game.

Huge +1 to the $10 UHC matches though.

oh man, you still think this can be a competitive game. oh dear. people like you lool, come into the scene when all the real shits gone and think you know what ur talking about. bruh, you telling that guy that he hasn't done anything that involves real skill or teamwork have you? lool

…It's very possible to be a great player, yet have no clue about the mechanics of the system. I wouldn't condone using this as a method of adding/removing credibility to arguments (to both yourself and asorn).

Following on, I don't personally believe any competitive community would progress if it viewed matters are pessimistically as you've described. It's very much a case of overcoming obsticles and therefore adapting to any environment.

I believe currently there is a situation of finding where and what players wish to play at higher & lower levels. There have been various stages of potpvp, followed by Battle Royal styled events before its decline (largely down to fortnite which was built end to end as BR rather than a game being adapted + on freemium model). I think the stage now is a time of confusion/alienation for players of the MC market – in the sense that I don't think most players actually know what they see with "competitive minecraft" where it clearly was Potpvp/Battle royal/OCN/clan wars/whatever in the past.

There are two obvious paths for the generalised competitive MC to take
- Rejuvanation of former gamemodes (another surge of interest in an already explored competitive MC vision)
- A new startup gamemode

The future will very much depend on the player's will and interest to persue either option and keep an open mind. The open-mindedness is the main factor nobody behind the scenes can control. The true downfall is caused primarily by people like yourself, who opt for the "self-destruct" in the sense that you are willing to say how good you are at the game, but also how much you hate it – but without specifying why. Maybe you expressed it in the past, but the second you fell into this mindset, nobody can actually help you fix the issue. Futhermore, it creates a domino effect of people doing the same, closed-minded action.

I mean, true for the 1.7 part, but thats the 2nd last good update for pvp. After 1.8 it's aids, if Mojang ever changes then they probably would.

Alright, i skim read what you said but aha, I use to be in this scene and pretty well established if I can say so myself. I probably know the community and how this works then most the people reading this post, other than the owners and a few staff like yourself. Btw, I remember you being one of the more reasonable staff members, how ya doing? Anyway, you're right, I was good at this game but I do dislike it. I will never ever say the games always shit etc. Because this game/server was my childhood and it was very good back then. I've made a post about what's wrong with badlion etc and whats wrong with uhcs which have been ignored by owners where I've made valid points with no hostility. This is the truth, you either have to be hostile to get a response which is usually a mute or ban or you make a list of valid points and get ignored lol/or have some guy typing an essay which gets to the point of , what am i even doing reading this anymore lol. I think we have to accept that those seasons will never come back and change is needed. You're going through a recession, there will be a boom once players have adapted, some will leave but you can get a lot more new players if you play your cards right. As someone who known minecraft pvp since it basically started, and studying economics, I could probably come up with some choices that you could make and give an evaulation for them. Though, it'll be ignored so I don't see much value in that.

Alright, fair enough. I haven't done any of those things myself either (Reffering to "not doing anything that takes real skill") but neither have you or OUA, but as Listen said none of that matters because you don't have to be good at a game to understand a game, and you can be bad at it as well but understand the mechanics. Which I was wrong about. As for this:

Although how long you've been in the community really doesn't matter. I was definitely around when what you refer to as "real shit" happened. Also relevance isn't a good way to prove your point, if anything it makes your argument weaker.

A few months back I had the exact same view as you, I thought that the idea of Minecraft ever being and esport was utterly stupid and anybody who thought that it could was delusional. That was until the Diamond Series Invitationals happened, getting to ref YAGA and see all of the teams play (Saber/Aura, Rome, Pureblox, Bait, etc.) made me completely 180 on my view. Have a quick watch of this video, it's one of the most well edited and entertaining Minecraft Youtube videos I've seen in a long time:

Also watch a few old OCN tourny's and you may see what I'm talking about.

I'd continue writing a lot more to explain why I think this game can become an esport, I don't have the time for that atm and Listen summed up pretty much everything I would've said anyways. One Last thing, can you explain to me why you believe this game can't become competitive?

Edit: Apologies for the bad grammar and the post being incomplete, I had to write this in a hurry.
