Badlion Survival Games Launching 1/24
Hello everyone! Back here with great news today! Badlion Survival Games (one of our longest requested game modes) is going to be live THIS SATURDAY MORNING (or earlier if we get it all done before then). We are planning on releasing it on 1/24/15 at 9 AM Pacific, 12 PM Eastern, and 5 PM GMT (all the same time).

I want to take some time to go over all of the different components of this new server setup on Badlion.

Ranked SG

I am going to briefly go over our ranked vs unranked systems for Survival Games. As you all know Badlion specializes in making competitive pvp servers along with smooth gameplay. We work really hard to make it so that you do not feel lag or jitter from plugins/network etc. This being said many of you know we created our own anti-cheat called GCheat to help combat hackers and remove all of the negative effects from NoCheatPlus.

Now, into the details. We will have ranked and unranked SG servers. To join a ranked match there will be special ranked matchmaking lobby servers you join. All of the servers will be joined from the hub. (We are in the process of reworking the hub as well [to be released after SG is stable/launched]). So you join this server, and you literally just sit and there and wait for the matchmaking system to find you a match. On average this takes anywhere from 15 seconds to 1 minute. We will tweak the matchmaking system based on the # of players who are queueing up, time of day, etc (in the future). Once matchmaking finds you a ranked match you get thrown into a 24 man match. Last man standing wins (standard SG).

The ranked system will use ELO (same as our PotionPvP server). If you are in the top half of the players you win ELO, if you are in the bottom half of players you lose ELO. It is possible for 2nd place to win more ELO than 1st place if second place is a lot lower of a rating than 1st place. It takes everyone's ELO into account.

It is impossible to join a ranked match without using the matchmaking system. This is to prevent things like teaming, ghosting, etc. When you die in a ranked match you are kicked off the server, but you can join back into matchmaking and go play another match.

Unranked SG

In addition to ranked SG there will also be unranked SG. Similar to our PotPvP servers you will be limited on the # of ranked matches you can play per day (unless you are donator). So when you want to keep on playing SG after you run out of ranked matches you can still join unranked matches. The hubs will allow you to join any unranked match you want to (even those that have started [to spectate]). These matches will track nothing except game time played on the server. There is more information to how these servers operate in the donator section.

Match Pages

This screenshot below shows a match link page similar to that of our KitPvP servers. It will show a full timeline of all of the players in the match, who killed who, their health, food, inventories, armor, when dieing etc.



For instance, I might kill Archybot with a stone sword and a flint and steel, and then later on I kill SmellyPenguin but I have picked up some carrots and some sticks since I killed Archybot. You can see the differences by hovering over different heads.

Each ranked match will have it's own match page. We are not planning on tracking any stats for unranked matches at the moment except game time played.

Signatures

People love showing how well they have done on a certain game mode. We want you guys to be able to share and brag as well! As a result we are adding these cool signatures which will be available on release to show your ranked stats:



Please note the image is not finalized and we might tweak it some more (btw thanks for all of the submissions).

Tab List

People love being able to see information with a quick press of the <TAB> key. We love making this information available. Here is a screenshot of our current tab list plans for the SG servers (subject to change)



Voting

We will do the same thing as PotPvP, if you vote on the websites you can get extra SG ranked matches to play everyday! Voting helps you guys by getting perks and helps us by advertising our network to others on listing websites.

Map Submissions

Right now we have picked a small number of maps (9 at the moment) to launch with. We picked maps that we felt had very balanced gameplay, and that were popular in the community. We would like to thank all of the people who allowed us to use their maps for the launch of our server.

We will be allowing map submissions in a separate sub-forum (at a later date). Stay tuned for more info on that.

Donator Perks

Now I would like to go over the Donator perks. Donator and Donator+ are treated the exact same for ranked SG at the moment. You get unlimited ranked matches (just like on PotPvP). We will probably add a /giftmatches for SG also like on PotPvP (Donator+ only [not on release]).

The other Donator perk is related to Unranked matches. Many of you know of MCSG, and their system for giving donators higher priority for joining matches. We are doing the same thing here. Let's go over a quick scenario:

24 Players on a server (voting for a map)
- 10 Donators
- 3 Donator+
- 9 Regular members

I want to join this match and I am a Donator. It will kick off one of the non-donators to make room for me as I join the server. (I believe it chooses the last person who joined as a non-donator [assuming i did it right]).

Same thing with this scenario:

24 Players on a server (voting for a map)
- 20 Donator+
- 4 Donators

I want to join this match and I am a Donator+. It will kick off one of the donators to make room for me.

So basically, if you are a Donator+ you will never be forced off an unranked server. Please note that you cannot be forced off once the match has started.

MCSG vs BSG

So there are a few things I want to go over about some of the differences between MCSG and BSG. I will go over what we chose to do and why we did it.

- Deathmatch timer is 3 minutes instead of 5 minutes. We wanted matches to go faster and not last too long.
- You cannot run too far from the deathmatch area. We didn't like the idea of insta-killing you if you ran too far on accident. You will just be blocked from advancing.
- Donators cannot give items to players (no sponsoring). We believe in fair gameplay at Badlion. We try really hard to make sure all players have an even level of playing.
- Game time is 20 minutes instead of 24 minutes. Once again we just wanted to make matches go faster.

Conclusion

I think this post does a good job at explaining all of the new things to expect from our SG server setup (which reminder is going live this weekend)! We will work with users to fix any bugs that might pop up during launch of course. We will also work to get more SG servers up as they fill up (we have no idea how many people will be trying to play on launch weekend).

No. MCSG has this weird donation perk where you can literally spectate and insert into someone's inventory items like ender pearls and crap. Basically unfair game play.

Another question, it disguising a thing? People are gonna get targeted if you're like 1.9k or 2k. Or do they not show it ingame? @MasterGberry

Yes there will be a way to disguise yourself if you're a famous player.

I might be dumb as hell. But when you say, the first 12 people to die loose elo, and the remaining 12 people gain elo? Couldn't I just camp until I gain? Also, is there going to be a pvp protection timer at the start of the game. @MasterGberry @Archybot @SmellyPenguin @ginie1

Also edit : There was a bug, where one guy won the match, but the game didn't end?
