The solution is not to be able to switch optifine versions but saying which version has the bug so it can be changed for all.

And make sure that you don't just have the specific particles for that disabled in optifine.

Maybe you used particles mod with a ratio of 0, hiding the particles?

I did not notice any problem with sprinting yet.
