Unable to tab players names on 1.12

Hello,I am unable to tab a players name when typing in chat in 1.12 and I haven't tried 1.8.9 yet. This is extremely annoying when you have to write out everyones name in full.

Hello!I was playing on other Minecraft versions and I was able to tab others names in the chat. Seems like only 1.12.2 is having that issue.
There will be a revamped version of "new chat" very soon. That issue might be fixed then.
