I have my 4th Inv Slot bound to M5 and I have realized that, neither in Vanilla MC or in BAC, you cant use M5 when looking at your Inventory, chest etc. as you can use keyboard keys, meaning you cant f.e. switch 2 items with each other by pressing M4 on an item in your Inv. As BAC is supposed to give the best Competitive Minecraft PvP Version, I would suggest that you implement this in a future patch.

If your mouse has a software for customisation, like razer synapse, ICUE etc, then i would recommend binding that to 4. If you use 4 for something else bind it to a key you don't use, then bind that key the the 4th slot. I have the same struggle because I use scroll wheel for inventory so i have to press escape out of everything instead of my inventory key.
