Superbright Darkened Blocks

I turned Superbright on a while back because I liked the idea of being able to see everything, day or night, cave or overworld. Then I decided to disable it because it defeated the idea of trying to explore caves and lighting houses and such. Turning it off and mining new blocks creates this shadow effect that I can only fix by placing a torch nearby and destroying it, but then any blocks destroyed afterwards creates the same effect. I've heard this is a bug with 1.14 and the Badlion client, and some people have posed solutions but none of them work or only work temporarily. Anyone have something that works 100% of the time? This is getting really annoying.
