After playing for 5 minutes a message saying Java SE Binary has stopped responding will appear and freezes the game. I've tried reinstalling java multiple times. This has never happened to me whilst playing on forge/vanilla Minecraft. Any idea on how to fix it?

Have u tried reinstalling the badlion client itself?

I just installed the badlion client today, but I'll give reinstalling the client a try

Reinstalling java itself has no effect on Badlion Client, because Badlion Client uses its own java installation.

In general what you could do directly after force-closing minecraft client after the problem occurred is to scroll down in the Badlion Launcher and press the bug report button, so we can check your logs for potential problems.
