Hello BLC team. I wanted to express privacy concerns that I have with the BLC Launcher. I've noticed that this launcher has invited 3rd party trackers for really no reason. I want to know why you guys have done this, and for what purpose. I'm going to list the trackers I've found via a DNS Sniffer program I used…fonts.gstatic.com (This one does carry the font, but the client would still work just fine without it.)
connect.facebook.com
i9.ytmg.com
google-analytics.com
I wanted to ask why these are here, since I feel there's absolutely no reason a client sided launcher should need to connect to online trackers.
Also, I tested this without anything open at all, other than the Launcher, and the DNS Sniffer itself. and these domains connect literally right as a open the launcher. The default Minecraft launcher doesn't even connect to online trackers, why should Badlion's launcher need to????

There are a few reasons we do this:1)And I am quoting from the Privacy Policy for this
C. Anti-cheat functionality in the Badlion Client. Certain information regarding your computer and software it contains is required for effective operation of our anti-cheat services. By using the Badlion Client, you consent to the collection and analysis of information from your computer that EGO deems reasonably necessary to identify and prevent the use of cheat software, files used to gain an unfair advantage, and to enforce bans.
These are some reasons we collect information, now here is how we share information or allow access:
2) Do not worry about selling information to nefarious sites as Badlion Client won’t sell any information to anyone, as we will just share it with other EGO websites and services, in which we are one “ EGO will not sell, rent or lease the personal information you provide. EGO will only share your personal information:
A. With entities owned or controlled by EGO;
B. With your consent;
C. With persons or entities engaged by EGO to carry out or fulfill EGO operations or business activities;
D. In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganzization or sale of assets by EGO;
E. As required by a duly authorized request from a government authority, to comply with any law, regulation, warrant, subpoena or order from a court or governmental authority, and to help prevent or investigate suspected fraud, harassment or violation of any law, rule, regulation, EGO policy or EGO terms and conditions; and
F. As otherwise stated in this Policy.” and in the case we do work with third party sites, we never directly give your information to them but work with them on how to improve and understand EGO.
Please read the privacy policy and check whatever suits you. We would never do anything illegal but I do understand your concerns. So, I think with what I’ve shown you, you should be able to understand why we use or share your data with fellow EGO sites and how we either do or don’t work with other third party ones.

And may I ask exactly how any of the domains I've mentioned have ANYTHING to do with anti-cheat??? I want an explanation of why this is. All these domains are are trackers… They literally do nothing but track you. They're on lots of websites on the web for this purpose, and that purpose only (with the exception of fonts.gstatic.com (that's the font)). Clearly they're not providing the anti-cheat. Providing me with portions of the privacy policy doesn't answer the question, on why they're in the launcher.I've made this forum post because I believe their should be an opt-out function for these domains. People should have the ability to use the things they wish to use without having to worry about their privacy against some of the worst privacy abusing corporations in the world.
I'm asking why they're in the launcher to begin with.
It should be obvious that their are going to be people who aren't cool with handing their private information and activities over to Google and Facebook, which is why I'm asking.

I explained in further detail right underneath, how these trackers do get personal information OR help us understand some EGO functions or help us with other actions. Furthermore, if one of the sites present is to help get a specific font, then you can see that the other websites are here to help and or do what was previously mentioned. There is also an “opt-out” feature mentioned for some of the data collecting features for the client and other EGO sites in the privacy policy. Check that for more information.Posted on 19 January 2020 - 03:37 AM
I'm talking bout' the launcher specifically but i'll look into itPosted on 19 January 2020 - 03:40 AM
In an update to what I read, it looks like that's just for e-mail communication. I want people to be able to opt out of google-analytics, connect.facebook.net, from connecting from their launcher.Posted on 19 January 2020 - 03:40 AM
Yes. If sites are specifically there, it’s for a reason. We would never do anything illegal with said information and it is all explicitly written in the Privacy Policy. Glad I could, and if not help you understand, lead you in the right way to help you.
