optifine not working :( sadness

help optifine is not working :( the settings doesnt appear when i launch it:code:
X = X\no
V = checkmark
||| means dark stuff
\\ means light stuff
Use optifine? //V//||X||
did i do something wrong?

Hello,Make sure to enable Optifine before you launch the game.
What version did you launch?

Hello,If you have enabled Optifine but you don't have Optifine settings/features in the game, submit a bug report through the launcher.
Follow these steps:
1. Launch 1.8.9 with Optifine enabled.
2. Check if you have Optifine settings.
3. If you don't have any Optifine settings/features available, go back to the launcher, scroll down and click on "Submit Bug Report" at the bottom of the launcher (https://www.badlion.net/wiki/how-to-submit-bug-reports).
It will send us your logs and the tech support team will look into the problem.
