i was wondering why you cant you exchange an item (cosmetic) if it is over 48 hours?

As far as I know, it's for security issues. Someone could access someone else's account and therefore could move their cosmetics to their original account without the owner knowing. Having this 48 hour rule means that people cannot access other's accounts and steal cosmetics.
