My opinion on name changes
1. Why did Microsoft not charge for them? They could of easily made some money if they charged $5 per name change, people would of paid for it too.

2. I think a lot of you will regret changing your name. Your IGN is what people recognize you by, and what makes you different from everyone else. Yeah that 2-3 letter name is cool looking, but now wtf are people going to call you by, or even recognize you anymore. You'll tell your immediate friends that you changed your account, but anyone else won't know it's you. Maybe you've had a bad reputation and wanna try to hide that under a new name, if that's the case I guess you made the right choice, but I feel a lot of you rushed into a name change that you'll regret very soon. I'll put it this way, I've been playing Minecraft since 2010 with the username BurntCactus, I have people from 3 years ago on small servers notice me on Badlion. If I were to change my name nobody would recognize me, none of my old acquaintances would know who I am. Maybe an IGN has bigger meaning to me then to you guys, but yeah that lowercase name of yours with an underscore might of been ugly, but it has characteristic, and in at least my case sentimental value.

In short, you guys should of kept your names, because now we gotta call you by a 3 letter word that's similar to 50043850348 other people instead of your unique name.
I was inspired to make this post because of @Xew ;-; y u gotta do dat

I agree, for me my IGN has built up a lot of reputation. I would only change my name if the name Marcus magically was available.

I agree with this posts but in some cases people call themselves xxEliteskillaxx32 and I would understand why they would namechange

I totally agree. The cool looking names at this point won't even be special anymore because everybody will have them.

Identity and reputation are the two things that keep me from changing my name.
I'm Morsinius, and that's my identity. I'm not going to shorten it to something like Mors_ or mrs, because those are simply nicknames. "Morsinius" is what I'm really known as, not "Mors."

Pisses me off seeing people change their ign to random words, I saw some kid on reddit bragging he got clock. Why the fuck would you want to be known as clock!?

Never changing this account's name
I can understand someone's alt getting a name change to something "OG"
but never for a main account that everyone knows you as

Sooo true i agree with you on that, so many people rushed to get stupid random words that they THOUGHT were cool but are really stupid and pointless. I saw a kid with the name "Shower" like why the fuck would you go around with the name shower. I think people should have actually put thought into their name and made it something they like, not something that would get them attention if its cool or not.

Most people I've talked to wont have an issue identifying me if they knew me, but I can understand what you are saying.

I strongly disliked nygiants_10 as a name. I chose NY_ as my new name because people almost always call me "NY" in OCN mumble and in game. It's still relevant since I live in New York. Plus, I really like the aesthetic look of underscores in general. I have very little sentimental value, or in my opinion, reputation, behind nygiants_10.

If anything, I rushed into choosing my name back in 2012…nygiants_10 was because my friend was yanksrock101 and I needed a quick screen name; figures a sports team would be good enough.

@BurntCactus I didn't like having my IRL name as my username, so I changed it to a name that references a band I like. I don't get why everyone hates it….

I changed my name because that was my name for years. I despised it, if you don't like it then you don't have to but it's my choice @cringiecake
