When I click Play, then launch, I am told to update my Minecraft credentials.

I don't want to enter my Mojang credentials and so instead I can
"open up your default Minecraft launcher and log into your account again and then try your previous action again."

I do exactly that - (close BLC launcher,) open default Minecraft launcher, log out then log back in, (close default launcher), then open the BLC launcher and try again but it still won't let me launch.

Sometimes it will prompt you to login to your Minecraft account through Badlion in order to correctly authenticate you to Mojang. We never store your Minecraft login so it’s safe for you to enter this information. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering why the other option, to not enter your credentials in, wouldn't work.
