I much preferred the Diamond ladder pre-proj prot (pre-feather falling, even), so I'd like it without proj. But I'm fine if they keep it on.Posted on 20 February 2015 - 05:47 PM

I think the feather falling is alright cause there's some maps that would be terrible without it, and just transcend into "who gets hit off the bridge first" which in one combo can decide a loser immediately. Whereas if you get one combo on yourself currently, and take like half a heart of fall damage, you can recover if you outplay your opponent. With the flat terrain maps it doesn't effect gameplay so I am all for Feather Falling. Having said that, removing FF wouldn't be a bad decision either, I can see why it would make gameplay more interesting.

I say keep the proj prot because of of the other non-speed ladders which are all bow dominantPosted on 20 February 2015 - 06:06 PM

If you removed Proj Prot it would be too similar to Iron OCN.

In one sense, I feel like the ladder is very bland without bows doing much damage. On the other hand, I like that there is a very melee oriented no potion no speed ladder. With the other non-potion oriented ladders like MCSG, UHC and Iron OCN being focused on secondaries like bows, golden apples and flint and steel, it's nice to have a melee focused ladder without it being complete stripped of other possibilities in tight situations. (Like using the bow to set up some hits.) I just feel the ladder's biggest downfall is a lack of overall depth and options, it feels stale.Posted on 20 February 2015 - 09:10 PM
I feel like to win on this ladder you need to have good ping and be able to block-hit well, that's it. Bringing the bow back would take away the full-sword aspect of it but it would be nice have something else to rely on when you get comboed. I to think it would be best to add bow back but to also make a new ladder without a bow for people who would still like to enjoy this type of PvP. Give it some tacky name revolving around swords, I can't think of any good names right now :PPosted on 20 February 2015 - 09:17 PM
Keep the projectile prot, Diamond OCN needs to be different than the iron one in some way other than armour typePosted on 20 February 2015 - 09:19 PM

Why though? The only thing that should separate them is the armor tier, like in the name. I don't really understand what you mean by that it 'has' to be different.

Nah, IMO there's no need for another ladder. Blockhitting is key in the ladder I find, which is a love/hate thing. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it.

Get rid of the Projectile protection ewwwww.Ocn diamond kit is meant to be bow based… Look at all the Ocn tournies. Where do you see the diamond players rushing in with sword? Rarely ever. When do you see a diamond player without bow in an Ocn tourney? Rarely ever.
like, I've never even seen Projectile protection armor in Ocn… That's like adding fire protection to mcsg ladder. You guys complain about bow spamming, but yet it'll do like 7 hearts tops in diamond Ocn. But then in mcsg, Flint and Steel does 7 hearts if you light them on fire, and it even makes it harder to run! So if diamond Ocn gets Projectile protection, mcsg should get fireprotection too. If mcsg doesn't have fire protection (which it shouldn't), diamond Ocn shouldn't have Projectile protection.
Also, if you are lagging and you get critted out to 3 hearts, it's practically impossible to come back. If someone is camping and gets an extra two hearts on you with fall damage, it's difficult to come back.
If you face a hacker like The_Peter99, who goes 500 matches without getting banned, it's practically impossible to win a sword fight.
A solution to all those problems is to get rid of Projectile protection.
If any kit needs to be balanced, it's mcsg. I've literally won matches against 1800's without using my sword… Just fns, Bowspam , and fns again. lol
