I think that you could add a Free For All where you start with wooden swords and no armour.If you happen to kill somebody you get a stone sword, kill another and get an iron sword and so on.
Once you achieve the diamond sword you start getting armour upgrades.
I just thought of this last night and wasn't sure if others woukd enjoy it so please do leave opinions!

Then someone who just joined has no chance. This stops "fair" pvp, and stops being fun except for the people who spend hours on end in it.
