So, whenever I play 1.8.9 I get these random 1 second lag spikes that are so so annoying and often make me lose fights and fall off the map. The thing is I don't think this is a ping issue cause I get 3-6 ping while the lag happens, and I don't think it's fps because I get 250-350 fps otherwise and I can run any other version of Minecraft with no lag.
