RAM Slider increases allocated ram, but doesn't use it.

I noticed I was having performance issues with minecraft in some particularly tame areas, and I found out that I only had 2 gigabytes of Ram allocated, with only about 110 megabytes being used. So I changed the slider all the way to around 10 gigabytes, and I knew that it would probably not even use all of it, but the F3 screen only ever showed that 110 megabytes was still used. Anyone can post a thread or answer to this?Posted on 28 December 2020 - 06:25 PM
when minecraft does not need more ram it will not use more ram. more ram and more ram usage do not magically increase fps, only in certain situations, for example when ram usage never drops below 80-90% and it needs to search for not longer used ram to allow its reuse.how ram usage behaves on badlion might differ because they use optimized the game as well as startup parameters which cause the "unused ram finder" of java to be more efficient.
