New Faces, Promotions, Badlion Going Into 2021

Hey everyone.

The 2020 year was crazy for the entire world, but it was really crazy for us here at Badlion. We grew at such a fast pace, that we had new fires and problems to deal with each month of the year starting in March. It was a really challenging year, and we would not be where we are today if it wasn't for the awesome administration team, development team, and staff teams. All of these teams combined makes Badlion what it is. It has never been one person, or only a few. It has always been the collective effort of hundreds of staff members, and the millions of players (that's you!). We are forever grateful for how far we have gotten together, and we are not planning on slowing down in 2021, only speeding up faster and faster!

Due to the amazing and continued growth we keep experiencing, we are able to sit down today, and share some awesome news with all of you! We have recently had a bunch of promotions, new positions hired, and are continuing to reshape the Badlion team in order to create the best platform for all Minecraft players that we can. It is very important for me to make sure the entire community knows that we continue to re-invest into Badlion with the income provided by all of you. One of our biggest goals is to make the Minecraft community stronger together, and thanks to all of you we keep getting closer to that goal :)

I will now briefly speak the changes happening here from a staffing perspective.

Promotions

I will start with the promotions:

First, @ginie1 has been here longer than I myself actually have. Even after 8 years, he still loves to play Minecraft, and is super in touch with the community. I am excited to announce that today he will be taking over as the dedicated Product Manager for the Badlion team. Most of the staff teams and people working here will report into him now (directly or indirectly). He is going to do amazing work this year, and continue to improve Badlion Client. I know he already has a bunch of changes and improvements for Badlion Client 3.1 that are currently being made up by the development team. He really has a deep connection to what we do here at Badlion, and I hope everyone is as excited about this as I am.

Second, @git has been here for almost 5 years now. He has grown a lot with the Badlion team, and has continued to grow his knowledge and understanding of creating good technical solutions for us to deploy to millions of users. Much of the stability and improvements to the Badlion ecosystem in the last few years are largely due to his continued effort to make things better and better every month. I know that he will be able to do a fantastic job at leading the entire development team as the official lead developer here at Badlion. Our development team keeps growing, and it's thanks to him for doing such a good job at managing it! Please take a moment to welcome him into his new job position.

I myself have also received a promotion in the ESL organization in the last year, and as a result will be letting @ginie1 and @git steer the ship here at Badlion in 2021. I will be advising and supervising, but no longer involved with the day to day operation of Badlion. I hope you all take a moment below to congratulate them on their new positions, and we can all be excited for the stuff they are putting together for the 2021 year with Badlion. I am confident that the team here at Badlion will do a much better job at improving and growing it than I can myself.

New Teams

In 2020, as we continued to grow, we ran into new problems that we had never faced before. As we grew, we had to put together new teams. I want to take a quick moment to talk about the new teams that were put together last year, as well as this year, and how they have better served all of you:

First, the cosmetics team. We used to have one dedicated cosmetics artist, and one part time model designer. Now, we have a total of 3 full time cosmetic artists, 2 part time 3D model designers, and 2 part time emote artists. We continue to add new cosmetics to the client based on community demand, meet the requests of our growing YouTube/Twitch partner program, and continue to polish our cosmetics to be better and better each release. They have some really big plans for this year, and I am super excited about them :) @Doblox912 has been, and will continue to lead this growing team. Keep your eyes peeled for his cosmetic announcements!

Second, the tester team. We released a ton of new features into Badlion Client last year. Not all of them came out bug free, but most of them came out with way fewer bugs thanks to the tester team at Badlion. Due to @gini1 taking his new position as Product Manager, we have decided to promote @ScrubV2 as the new lead of the tester team. He is currently looking through all of the applications (100s of them) that we got for the recent tester team application. We can't wait to get some new faces involved and squash some bugs together!

Third, we believe that Badlion is a community. There are almost a million of you using Badlion Client every month. We want to make sure that we can offer the best community possible for Minecraft players with the Badlion Client. That is why we are putting together some new teams to help manage our growing community. @manuuugh will be putting together some new teams including a Community Management team, and a Social Media team in order to continue to help build the strongest community we can, together. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the announcement of when applications for these teams open.

Lastly, the support team. Last year we launched a brand new help portal at https://support.badlion.net/ to meet the growing demand of Badlion Client's needs. We are currently working on adding language support to the help center for over a dozen different languages. Through this support website, we have resolved over 15,000 tickets, and discovered problems with things like account registration that we could never have done without it. A huge shout out to @UnknownFact who has lead the support team over the last months, and is now expanding his responsibilities by taking charge of the payment support team and the tech support team. In order to continue to offer better support here at Badlion, we are also assigning more support agents to help manage our ticketing system on Zendesk, our payment support section on the forums, and our tech support on the forums. This means faster responses to your problems, and more happy customers! We hope to continue to reduce down the number of tickets that are required, by making everything more and more stable with the ongoing changes we have planned for 2021.

New Faces

We have some new faces that have joined our team in our administration team in the last few months as well, and some more that are joining now. Let's give them some quick introductions:

@ScrubV2 - He has been around Badlion for many years now, and has finally found the right spot where he can help Badlion continue to grow. He has just come onto the Badlion team full time starting this week! His primary responsibility will be QA Testing (this means he spends his time testing and discovering bugs in the Badlion Client). The thought process is that if we have more dedicated testing, we will have less buggy releases, which means a smoother Badlion Client for all of you. In addition to this, he will be leading our tester team now, helping with payment support, and also recently joined the partner team as a manager for the Oceanic region.

@Soiree - Another newcomer for the administration team. Soiree joined the team a few months ago to become a dedicated EU partner manager for our growing audience. His primarily responsibility is managing the relationships of most of the European servers & youtubers/streamers that we work with.

Conclusion

In the best effort to keep this announcement short, and informative, I will not drag on the topic here of the changes. You might be asking yourself, what do all of these changes mean for me?

Very simple answer, it means that Badlion Client is going to continue to get better and better. Less bugs, more uptime, faster client, faster support, bigger community, more giveaways, more content, a better Minecraft experience!

Thanks for your attention. Please take a moment to congratulate and welcome the existing and new team members here!
