I was making tests without optifine and this happens everytime i place a torch. If i reload the chunks everything it is fine again though. I tried disabling minecraft smooth lighting but the problem remains.
This is 100% consistent when i place a torch, although the pattern of the darker area might change depending on where i put it.
i didnt try with optifine yet.

Edit : This is in 1.16.5 i will try tomorrow on 1.8.9 as I guess this might be the problem.
