Pretty sure the Light Overlay is broken. From my experience it doesn't seem to refresh unless you deactivate and reactivate it wich means the crosses don't disappear if you actually place torches and other light sources and also don't disappear if you brake the block or place one on a crossed out block. Sometimes the crosses don't even get displayed at all if the lightlevel is bleow the set threashhold.
